If so, we have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and motivated Orthoptist to join our expanding team as an Advanced Orthoptist and also support our new community service at Ealing Hospital.
Main duties of the jobThe role will be based at Moorfields Eye Hospital (City Road) and Ealing Hospital (minimum one day per week). The successful candidate will be working alongside a multidisciplinary team across a range of sub-speciality clinics including botulinum toxin, motility, paediatric, adnexal, neurology and orthoptic-optometric led services.
The candidate will be expected to work autonomously in new patient clinics and be experienced to be able to be able to make appropriate onward referrals.

Job responsibilitiesThe successful post holder will:
- Be responsible for the orthoptic assessment, diagnosis and appropriate management of all patients in their care
- Be responsible as an independent practitioner for the planning, implementation and monitoring of orthoptic treatment
- Be responsible for re-referral to specialist services if indicated
- Collaborate and actively participate in supporting observers, health care professional and Orthoptic students attending clinical placement
- Support newly qualified Orthoptists

Person SpecificationQualificationsEssential- HCPC registered
- Diploma or degree in Orthoptics
Desirable- Higher qualifications / working towards higher qualification
ExperienceEssential- Significant clinical experience in orthoptic NHS setting, involving sub-specialist clinics
- Experience of diagnosis and management of complex ocular motility disorders
- Experience of clinical governance in relation to own area of practice
Knowledge and SkillsEssential- Evidence of Continuous Personal Developement
- Development of teaching materials
