Job summary
As a senior member of the Pharmacy Department, the post-holder will:

• Lead on the delivery and development of high-quality clinical pharmacy services and medicines optimisation initiatives to Moorfields network sites in line with local and national objectives.
• Support the medicines optimisation agenda across the division. This includes the provision of clinical service level medicines usage reports and contribution to protocol development, and monitoring adherence to contracts to support the safe and cost-effective use of medicines.
• Monitor adherence to medication related legislation, governance, and the safe and economic use of medicines through means of clinical research and audits.
• Manage a team of network site pharmacy staff and lead on the provision of an efficient medicines optimisation and management training programme for trust staff.
• Support the Associate Chief Pharmacists in providing input and facilitating the implementation of novel medicine supply systems which include third party supply and home care related to network sites.

Main duties of the job
The postholder will be required to support the Associate Chief Pharmacist for Clinical Quality, Network Sites to deliver and develop the clinical and operational pharmacy service delivery across the whole network.

This involves clinical and operational services across all the Moorfields North network sites and the Moorfields satellite pharmacies located at Ealing, Northwick Park, St. Ann's and Stratford site.

The postholder will be required to lead on development and delivery of efficient medicines optimisation agenda at individual clinical service level across the division. This includes the safe and cost-effective prescribing in accordance with national and local agreed guidelines.

The posts holder is responsible for the overall operations of network site pharmacies including managing service rosters and ensuring safe staffing levels are maintained at all times.

The post holder will be responsible for the investigation and management of medication related incidents and patient complaints including those received via the Trust's Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS).

The post holder will be responsible for the development of the clinical and practical skills for network site pharmacy staff.

Job responsibilities
Clinical and operational service development and delivery:

• To lead on development and delivery of efficient medicines optimisation agenda at individual clinical service level across the division.
• To liaise with Service Directors to promote safe and cost-effective prescribing.
• To be responsible for the overall operations of network site pharmacies.
• Where required, to provide operational support to the teams when necessary.
• To support the Associate Chief Pharmacist in investigating and managing incidents and complaints.
• To regularly carry out practice and clinical audits.
• To support the identification of Cost Improvement Plans (CIP).
• To work with the High-Cost Medicine team in the management of PbR excluded medicines.

Education and Training:

• To develop the clinical and practical skills for network site pharmacy staff.
• Educational Supervisor and an Educational Facilitator for clinical pharmacists undertaking the Postgraduate Diploma in General Pharmacy Practice.
• To assist with the provision of teaching sessions and oversee the development of pharmacy and other staff.

Managerial and supervisory responsibilities:

• To manage the specialist pharmacists and lead pharmacy technician across the division.
• To carry out appraisal, recruitment and performance review of these staff.
• To recruit, develop and motivate staff to ensure they can and do perform well in their job.

Qualifications
Essential

• Pharmacy degree
• 1 year pre-registration training
• Certificate / Diploma

• Extensive experience in a hospital setting
