Job Summary10 TPD sessions are being advertised to work on Differential Attainment (DA) across the East Midlands until March 2027. Sessions are being advertised internally and will be appointed as either 0.5 or 1 session posts.
Main Duties of the JobThe successful applicant will work with other TPDs and ADs to provide:
Programme development and managementDesign, development and review of teaching resources in line with trainee feedback, curriculum updates, and emerging best practice. Ensure resources are adaptable for different stages of GP training and accessible for diverse trainee needs. Support for GP registrars based on feedback and educational outcomes.
Teaching deliveryTeaching delivery, both in-person and remotely. Identify and implement opportunities to innovate in teaching methods.
Collaboration and CommunicationLiaise with residents, Educational Supervisors, programme managers, Training Programme Directors and APDs as required. Engage with regional NHSE teams. Engagement with other relevant stakeholders.
AdministrationMaintain accurate records of teaching activities, attendance, and trainee progress. Contribute to logistical planning.
EvaluationContribute to the design and delivery of evaluation methods to assess the effectiveness of DA workstreams. Assist with data collection and analysis. Participate in faculty review processes to ensure quality and consistency across sessions. Embed inclusivity and accessibility into programme evaluation and development.
Person SpecificationQualifications and TrainingEssential- Registered Medical or Dental Practitioner with a current licence to practise or hold a Certificate of Completion of Training (or equivalent) in Public Health (for roles in School of Public Health).
- Membership/Fellowship of a College, Faculty or professional association relevant to the advertised role's Specialty.
- Applicants must be in current NHS clinical practice (or similar setting), or within 2 years of ceasing clinical practice, whilst in this post
- Applicants, regardless of professional background, must have a track record of professionalism in line with the principles set out in Good Medical Practice and compatible with appointment in a senior clinical educator role.
- Attendance at courses aimed to support educational development.
- Active involvement in, and up to date with, NHS appraisal processes.
- Applicants who are GPs are normally required to be on the National Performer's List (unless they are solely undertaking an educational management role).
Desirable- Higher educational qualification such as a postgraduate certificate, diploma or Master's in education.
Experience and KnowledgeEssential- Good working knowledge of the NHS, its structures and processes.
- Demonstrable track record of delivery in service and education.
- Experience of working with learners and doctors in training in an educational context.
- Experience of clinical and educational leadership including across multi-professional teams.
- Understanding of developments involving the relevant Colleges/Faculties, professional bodies, National Institute for Health Research and academic training, NHS organisations and regulatory bodies.
Desirable- Previous or current appointment as a leader in healthcare education.
- Previous experience in the recruitment and selection of doctors / learners to educational programmes.
- Awareness of funding streams for healthcare education.
- Understanding of current health, social care and education policy.
- An understanding of healthcare/multi-professional workforce matters.
