Main duties of the jobTo hold a caseload of clients with complex needs, using evidence based/client centredprinciples to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.
To provide leadership for occupational therapy staff, through regular supervision andappraisal.
To contribute to the planning, development and evaluation of the occupational therapyservice, holding responsibility for defined service projects, working under the direction of theOccupational Therapy Team Manager.
To regularly supervise occupational therapy students on practice placement and take part inyearly practice educator updates.

Job responsibilitiesTo work with service users to identify treatment goals as part of the overall care plan;using specialist mental health and occupational therapy assessment tools.
To hold a caseload of service users with complex mental health needs, includingevaluating referrals for intervention and priorities for treatment.
To plan and implement evidence based client centred individual and/or groupinterventions, using graded activity to achieve therapeutic goals.
To monitor, evaluate and modify treatment in order to measure progress and ensureeffectiveness of intervention.
To critically evaluate outcomes including assessment and management of risk.
To apply clinical reasoning skills to effectively manage clinical caseloads.
To use a broad range of standardised and non-standardised assessments appropriateto model of practice.
To work alongside other professionals and external agencies to provide assessmentand ongoing treatment.
To apply a high level of understanding of the effect of disability and provide training andadvice on lifestyles changes and adaptations to the clients social and physicalenvironment
Person SpecificationExperienceEssential- Supervision of staff and/or students
- Experience of working in a mental health environment for a minimum of two years
- Documented evidence of continuing professional development
QualificationsEssential- HCPC registration
- Diploma/degree in OT
- Post graduation training relevant to mental health
- An up-to-date CPD portfolio
