Job summary
We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity to join our team of nurses and nursing assistants on Edgefield Ward. This area specialises in Urology and General Surgery.

We have a progressive and friendly team committed to delivering high standards of care, and you will be working alongside our consultants, nurse practitioners and nursing colleagues.

We are equally committed to the opportunities we provide to the team to enable individuals to develop and learn. Our ward is lucky to have its own dedicated Clinical Nurse educator, to support you from day one. Support will be given from the ward to progress

The successful candidate will be highly motivated, enthusiastic and keen to learn and develop.

Main duties of the job
Edgefield ward is a 36 bedded acute Urology ward providing care for patients on both the elective and non-elective. We specialise in caring for complex urology patients which include lithotripsy treatment and robotic surgery.

Our nursing teams work alongside a range of dedicated Healthcare professionals to deliver a collaborative and integrated care using a multi-disciplinary approach.

Job responsibilities
  • Work with all members of the Ward clinical team within the multi-disciplinary framework. Maintain a high standard of patient care under the direction of the Ward Manager.
  • Act as a leader in the clinical area, in the absence of a more senior member of staff. To work in accordance with the principles set out by the Nursing/Midwifery professional bodies and Trust Policies.
  • To support the delivery of a high quality, safe and compassionate healthcare service, all staff are expected to act as a role model to others in all aspects of their work and consistently demonstrate NNUHs PRIDE values of People focused, Respect, Integrity, Dedication and Excellence.

Qualifications
Essential
  • Registered Nurse on the appropriate part of the NMC Register
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development and maintenance of a Personal, Professional Profile

Skills, abilities and knowledge

  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills
  • Ability to maintain high standards of care
  • Competency in clinical skills including enhanced practice relevant to the level of experience and clinical area
