Job summary
We would like to offer an opportunity for a highly motivated and enthusiastic podiatrist to join our multidisciplinary diabetic foot team based at the Norfolk & Norwich University NHS Foundation Trust.

This is a really exciting opportunity to join a well-established multidisciplinary diabetic foot team which is one of the largest in the East of England and we see over 700 new patients and 6500 follow-ups per year, all of whom have complex foot disease.

What we can offer
You will join a team of seven podiatrists. We can offer real variety in different sub-specialty working alongside consultants' colleagues in diabetes, microbiology, renal, vascular, plastics, and orthopedic surgery in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

However, being based in one of the UK's leading research hospital the role of a podiatrist can become so much more. We are actively involved in several large multicenter research projects and publish widely on many aspects of diabetic foot disease. This would give the successful applicant the opportunity to participate in the ongoing research and contribute to the department's ongoing research strategy.

Main duties of the job
You will work as a member of the diabetic foot team in both inpatient and outpatients treating people with acute diabetic foot complications.

You will experience dedicated medical and surgical clinics and ward rounds.

You will be supported to develop skills in the management of infection, specialist debridement and off-loading.

You will be involved in clinical research being carried out within the department.

The Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital is a teaching Hospital; therefore, you will be actively involved in the delivery of departmental education material.

Qualifications/training and professional development
Essential
  • Diploma/Degree in Podiatry
  • Registration with the Health Professions Council (UK)
  • Evidence of CPD, maintained in a portfolio showing CPD events/activity relevant to the clinical speciality

Skills, abilities and knowledge
Essential
  • Working knowledge of a broad range of conditions
  • Ability to undertake comprehensive specialist assessment of patients using investigative and analytical skills and to make a clinical diagnosis based on presenting signs and symptoms.

Desirable
  • Understanding of clinical governance and implications for services, including experience of quality issues and audit. Including NICE guidance
