Job summaryAt NCIC we employ more than 70 SAS Doctors and have an active SAS Development Programme organised through our local SAS Tutor. These sessions enable valuable CPD on important and useful generic topics as well as the chance to network with SAS Colleagues across the Trust. Through our Local SAS Tutor, we also engage with the regional SAS Tutor network at Health Education England North East (HEENE).
NCIC SAS doctors also have two representatives on our local JLNC and another on our local Medical Staff Committee.
NCIC values its SAS Doctors and full-time NCIC SAS doctors benefit from a 1.5 SPA allocation in their job plans and all NCIC SAS doctors have an additional 2 days annual leave after 7 years' Trust service.
The unit runs a 24/7 urology emergency rota at the Cumberland Infirmary site and elective activity across both sites at the Cumberland Infirmary and West Cumberland Hospital.
Main duties of the jobNorth Cumbria Integrated Care are looking for 3 enthusiastic Speciality Doctors to join 6 Urology Consultants and 1 Speciality Doctor to deliver elective and emergency urological services. These posts offer the opportunity to develop sub specialist interests, to complement our current services. For those interested in taking on a role in leadership and management, the Trust offers opportunities for development and training.
The successful candidates will be expected to be trained and competent in the elective and emergency management of urological complications. Urology work closely with other services within NCIC such as the community bladder teams and Surgical Same Day Emergency Care department to provide prompt urology interventions.
The post holder will be required to run elective clinics, diagnostic lists such as flexible cystoscopy, trans perineal biopsy, TULA and on occasion theatre / day case surgery lists at both Cumberland Infirmary (CIC), Carlisle and West Cumberland Hospital (WCH), Whitehaven.
