Job summary
We are looking for psychologists passionate about working cross agency to support our most vulnerable children, to join our CAMHS Enfield HEART team. The Health, Education, Access and Resource Team (HEART) offers a range of services to improve the emotional wellbeing of Enfield looked after children (LAC). This includes assessment and treatment for emotional difficulties, consultation for carers and professional staff, and support to therapeutic fostering services. HEART is a wider local authority-led team for LAC, with a commissioned CAMHS component provided You would be joining a small, dedicated team based on site with the local authority in Enfield.

Main duties of the job
Enfield HEART CAMHS clinical team provide assessment intervention and consultation for children, adolescents and young adults looked after by the London Borough of Enfield up to the age of 25 years.

In order to meet the needs of the Trust you may be required from time to time to work at different locations to your normal place of work. This may mean that you are required to work at any location that fall under Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey or Islington. Job responsibilities
To provide a highly specialist psychological therapy interventions, as well as undertaking consultation to non-clinical colleagues and other non-professional carers; working autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the teams policies and procedures Looked After Childrens Team (HEART)

Qualifications/ Registrations
Essential

• Doctorate / PhD / additional training in relevant profession (counselling, forensic, clinical or educational psychology) AND Registration with the Healthcare Professions Council as a Practitioner Psychologist

Desirable

• Supervision training
• Further training in a specialized area of psychological practice through formal post- doctoral training (diploma or equivalent), relevant to children looked after such as Systemic Psychotherapy

• Knowledge and skills in the use of complex methods of assessment and intervention, frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration.
• Skills in undertaking Quality Improvement projects and service evaluation
• Skills in providing consultation to other professional and nonprofessional groups
• Well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS.
• Ability to contain, explore and formulate an understanding of high levels of distress, both directly with patients and indirectly in their network.
• Capacity to maintain a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, and situations where there may be resistance, verbal aggression, or the threat of physical aggression.
• Knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological therapies with children, young people and families.
• Knowledge and ability to undertake clinical risk assessment and to work within safeguarding procedures.
• Knowledge of legislation in relation to the client group and mental health.
• Understanding of the need and rationale for using evidence-based interventions.

Experience/ Knowledge
Essential

• Experience of working in a relevant mental health service (e.g. CAMHS team, mental health service working with care experienced young people and their carers, or in a mental health service embedded in social care), including the application of risk assessment and safeguarding procedures in this area.
• Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course with presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity.
• Experience of specialist assessment and intervention of clients across mental health settings
• Experience of providing evidence based psychological interventions
• Experience with routine outcome monitoring.
• Experience of work in multidisciplinary team/multiagency contexts.
• Experience of providing supervision
• Experience of working with diverse communities and within a multi-cultural setting.
• Experience of both group and individual work.
