Job summaryThe AHP Service Lead will support the Operations Manager/Senior Operations Manager in developing a culture of high performance, ownership, and accountability where safety, quality and excellence in patient outcome and experience is consistently delivered. In conjunction with the senior team the post holder will work across organisational boundaries to ensure appropriate services are in place to deliver national and local strategic and operational service objectives and standards.
The AHP Service Lead is expected to act as a change agent and be highly visible to frontline staff, demonstrating strong personal and professional leadership building an effective leadership and management team within the Directorate(s) to ensure organisation sustainability.
This role of the AHP Service Lead forms part of the Directorate management team and is expected to work with the Operations Manager/Senior Operations Manager in the development and delivery of underpinning Directorate annual operating plans, which should in turn integrate with the Clinical Service overall clinical and business development strategy and overarching University Hospitals Tees strategy.
Another essential element of this role is to be the Principal Occupational Therapist for Hartlepool Borough Council and as such will also have RCOT Governance Responsibilities.
Main duties of the jobThe AHP Professional Lead will provide high calibre, professional and operational management and leadership to staff within their portfolio in the Directorate(s), working with the Operations Manager/Senior Operations Manager, AHP leaders, Clinical Directors, Clinical Matrons and clinical teams to develop and implement strategic and operational plans aligned to the overall strategy.
The AHP Service Lead will ensure delivery of a highly professional and effective integrated therapy services across acute and community services and social service environments (where partnership agreements are in place), reflecting the extended scope of practice. They will lead and be responsible for the developments of pathways, protocols and service standards of practice to ensure that the clinical services operate to national Best Practice Guidance from professional and Governance Bodies.

QualificationsEssential- A management qualification or equivalent experience
- Degree or Diploma AHP related profession
- Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) regulated health professional Evidence of recent relevant professional development
Desirable- Masters Qualification, working towards or prepared to work towards
KnowledgeEssential- HCPC registration in relevant AHP Discipline
- Proven ability to be intellectually flexible and to be able to look beyond existing processes and ways of working to produce more effective service deliver
- Evidence of a strong understanding of professional clinical management, with knowledge of national and local professional therapy agendas and key priorities
- Evidence of a sound understanding in operational management, lean manufacturing, six sigma etc. or comparable service improvement methodologies. A strong knowledge of change and project management processes
ExperienceEssential- Demonstrable experience in management, including direct line management responsibility
- Experience of translating strategic goals into effective operational plans and objectives
- Recent evidence and experience of positive leadership skills and the ability to transform and lead a team to work effectively together.
- Experience of successfully managing significant change/project management.
