Job summaryJOB SUMMARY- To act as team leader taking responsibility for the organisation and day to day management of a team of nurses
- To effectively lead and be responsible for the department team and clinical care carried out in the absence of and in conjunction with the Ward Manager
- To lead in designated area/s in close liaison with the Ward Manager, Matrons and the Practice Development Team to provide the highest quality of assessment and evaluated care required to support each patient in their care pathway
Main duties of the jobLeadership and Clinical Practice- To act as a role model and manager of the patients journey including patient flow and maintain clinical credibility
Education- To work with the Ward Manager ensuring ward staff are trained and developed to meet their potential, the demands of the service and also mandatory requirements
Audit and research- Foster an environment where practice is research/evidence based and undertake audit to ensure this is effective
Management of department in the ward managers absenceAbout usPriority will be given to colleagues identified as at risk through the Trust's redeployment process.

Person SpecificationEducation and QualificationsEssential- Registered General Nurse - current NMC registration
Desirable- ALS provider
- Teaching qualification
ExperienceEssential- Demonstrates and understanding of: - Accountability and responsibility - Evidence based practice - Clinical supervision - Ability to lead a clinical area/service
Desirable- 24 months experience of cardiology and/or post registration cardiac course
KnowledgeEssential- Awareness of current developments in healthcare and professional nursing relevant to the post
- Awareness of the role of audits and research in effecting change in nursing practice
- Ability to function as part of the multi professional team
Desirable- Ability to assess the competence of others
Key SkillsEssential- Able to work under pressure with good time management skills
- Able to meet tight deadlines, targets and standards
