Our Neonatal unit provides 1x intensive care cot, 1x High dependency cot and 8 special care cots, along side a neonatal outreach service. The unit currently provides short term intensive care, high dependency care and special care. Our team is highly skilled and knowledgeable professionals, who are passionate about delivering a provision of high quality service to babies and their families.
*Please Note the advert may close sooner than the date advertised due to levels of interest, closing of the advert will happen with no notice*Main duties of the jobWe are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and self-motivated neonatal nurse (RGN/RSCN/Child Branch) with post registration neonatal intensive care qualification) to join our friendly experienced team. You will have excellent clinical and communication skills. The successful candidate will lead/coordinate shifts, be able to work well independently and within the team.
They will also enjoy teaching and supporting junior staff as well as pre-registration student nurses.
This post involves a day/night rotation.

Person SpecificationEducation and QualificationEssential- Registered Nurse Adult or Child
- Qualified in Speciality (Neonates), ENB 405 or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years post registration experience on a neonatal unit at Band 5
- Evidence of Neonatal Advanced Life support training
- Evidence of Standard of Student Supervision & Assessment training
- Experience of supporting and teaching junior colleagues
Desirable- Participation in a leadership programme e.g. Edward Jenner / Mary Seacole
- ENB 997/8 or relevant teaching qualification
KnowledgeEssential- Excellent theoretical and practical knowledge of nursing within this clinical area
- Knowledge of NMC Codes of Conduct and/or guidance of professional practice
- Ability to demonstrate knowledge of child protection issues.
Key SkillsEssential- Good written presentation skills and maintenance of accurate records
- Effectively prioritises and coordinates own work and that of others
- Shows good leadership qualities - ability to assess situations, problem solve, identify solutions, support and challenge
- Demonstrates understanding of safeguarding issues
- Appreciates the significance of safeguarding and interprets this accurately for all individual
Desirable- Willingness to actively participate in mechanisms to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the team through audit.
ExperienceEssential- Experience of mentoring students and junior members of staff
