Job summary
We have an opportunity for enthusiastic, self-motivated NMC/HCPC Registered Enhanced level Practitioner(s) with the right attributes and passion for Urgent Care to join our amazing multidisciplinary team within our Urgent Treatment Care (UTC) and Emergency Department (ED) minors area at Peterborough City Hospital (PCH).

We are able to support successful candidate(s) with further academic study and training, developing technical skills and undertaking practical procedures. This role also attracts 20% Supporting Professional Activities (SPA) time for Practitioners to undertake study, personal and service development. Therefore, we look for the candidate(s) with the right attributes and characteristics for our team. We will assess people not only on their academic and technical achievements but on their non-technical and communication skills.

Our ACP's also spend time teaching, training, supporting and developing trainee and junior staff from nursing, medical and allied healthcare professional backgrounds as part of their role.

On successful completion of a Master's Degree in Advanced Clinical Practice, other modules, internal competencies (e.g. ECG's, competency portfolio) and Work Place Based Assessments (WPBA's) the post holder will then be promoted to Band 8a with further training and development opportunities available.

Main duties of the job
Working a minimum of 30 hours per week the post holder will be developing their clinical practise under the supervision of an experienced multidisciplinary team as a trainee Urgent Care Advanced Clinical Practitioner (tUC-ACP) within the Consultant and General Practitioner (GP) supported UTC. The post holder will develop through academic study and clinical practice under direct and indirect supervision of a senior clinicians, their knowledge and skills in the safe assessment, treatment, referral and discharge of patients within an agreed scope of practice to provide patient-centred quality care within their designated area of work.

• Resource Management ensures appropriate use and distribution or clinical and non-clinical resources. Support the development of junior staff across a multidisciplinary team.
• Health and Safety plays their part in maintaining a safe working environment, undertake mandatory training and actioning/reporting any concerns.
• Risk Management ensure dynamic risk assessments a carried out and if required report, mitigate, minimise risk to staff and service users.
• Patient contact in line with the Trust values and Standards of Care of professional body.
• Prescribing responsibility must ensure Prescribing within the Professional, legal and clinical boundaries whilst ensuring adherence to the Trusts Non-Medical Prescribing policy.
• Scope of Practice must maintain a professional registration with one of the recognised professions for role and ensure they are working within their professional and Trust guidelines and Standards.

Education and Qualifications
Essential

• NMC Registered Nurse or HCPC Registered Paramedic or Physiotherapist
• Safeguarding Adults (level 3).
• Ability and eligibility to study at level 7 (Masters)
• Safeguarding Children (level 3).
• Immediate Life Support provider (ILS)
• Paediatric Immediate Life Support provider (PILS)
• Current Portfolio/ePortfolio of practice evidence

Desirable

• Master's Degree in Advanced Clinical Practice (or in certain circumstances has completed Health Education England (HEE) ACP e-Portfolio)
• Independent Prescriber (V300)
• IR(ME)R certificate.
• Advanced Life Support provider (ALS) - or equivalent
• Advanced Paediatric Life Support provider (APLS) - or equivalent
• Completed or working toward accreditation/credentialing with The Royal College of Emergency Medicine (RCEM)
• Generic Instructor Course (GIC) for the Resuscitation Council UK (RCUK) or Advanced Life Support Group (ALSG)
• Leadership qualification
• Teaching / Assessment and mentoring qualification
• Have Ultrasound Level 1 qualification
