Main duties of the job
As a Band 6 Tissue Viability Nurse, you will play a vital role in delivering specialist care and improving outcomes for patients with complex wound care needs across the Northern Care Alliance. Working within a dedicated and supportive specialist team, you will provide expert advice and clinical support to patients, carers and healthcare professionals, helping to prevent and manage pressure ulcers, lower limb wounds and other complex tissue viability conditions.
You will assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for patients with skin integrity concerns, promoting evidence-based practice and ensuring the highest standards of care are delivered. Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams across both acute and community settings, you will help drive improvements in patient outcomes, safety and experience.
The role also offers the opportunity to contribute to education and training programmes, supporting staff, patients and carers to develop knowledge and confidence in wound care management. In addition, you will be involved in clinical audit, quality improvement initiatives and service development projects, helping to shape and enhance the Tissue Viability Service. You will also promote the safe and cost-effective use of dressings, equipment and specialist therapies while supporting cross-cover working across the Northern Care Alliance to ensure a consistent, high-quality service for patients.
