Description

Job summary
Northumbria Healthcare Foundation Trust (NHCT) Community Podiatry Services are looking for a Band 5 MSK Podiatrist to enter the biomechanics team. This post is entry level and we are keen to support new graduates or experienced community Podiatrists who are keen to enter into an MSK career. We are looking for an enthusiastic Podiatrist who is looking for a path into Musculoskeletal care, with structured training and support available for the right candidate to grow into the role. You will work closely with a large team of Podiatrists, who currently deliver gold standard care to people living with MSK foot and ankle problems.

The biomechanics team works across community sites within the Northumbria Trust. This job will be primarily based in North Shields but there may be a requirement to travel to other sites across the patch.

The biomechanics department also has its own workshop where insoles are manufactured. You will be required to use a clinical system to send a prescription to the workshop.

The department has also recently acquired 3D printing technology which will be used to manufacture bespoke orthotics via a CAD system using scanners on a IPAD.

We will consider applications from newly qualified podiatrists and from podiatrists coming towards the end of their training.

Main duties of the job
In your clinical role you will be supported to:
  • Assess and diagnose a wide range of MSK foot and ankle conditions
  • Use a clinical system for your clinical note writing and sending prescriptions.
  • Issue tailored rehabilitation exercise programmes to support recovery
  • Know when and how to use prefabricated and custom foot orthoses
  • Administer shockwave therapy for recalcitrant pathology
  • Receive structured support from senior staff to know when to refer for clinical investigations (such as x-ray, MRI, diagnostic ultrasound, blood tests and nerve conduction studies) and how to make treatment plans with the results that are received

We are looking for the right candidate to grow into this role.
