Job summary
Applications are invited for an experienced Clinical or Counselling Psychologist to work in the Neurodevelopmental assessment team in North Tyneside CAMHS. The team caters for children and young people aged 0-18 and their families, who are affected by a variety of mental health difficulties.

We are looking for an enthusiastic motivated team player who can contribute to the delivery of psychologically informed assessment, formulation and intervention across CAMHS neurodevelopmental service. The candidate must have substantial knowledge of neurodevelopmental conditions as well as being able to deliver intervention at a specialist level. The candidate must also have experience of supervising and training other professionals. We are keen to invest in training opportunities for the successful candidate, in order to develop skills and experience to improve service delivery and patient experience.

Prior knowledge of cognitive assessments (e.g. WISC-V) is desirable as is some skill in delivering evidence-based interventions.

The post will be based at Albion Road Resource Centre, North Shields but the post holder may be required to work at other sites within the Trust.

Main duties of the job
The role will involve working into the neurodevelopmental team in CAMHS and managing all aspects of the delivery of service, including supporting all aspects of the delivery of psychological formulation and diagnosis across a range of neurodevelopmental and mental health conditions. The postholder will represent the wider service and the Trust as part of their role as a senior clinician and will be expected to engage fully in decisions around service modelling and delivery. The post holder will contribute to the day to day management of the Neurodevelopmental team. The successful post holder must be able to role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the Trust.

Job responsibilities
To provide a specialist role in the service delivery of the neurodevelopmental team in CAMHS. This will involve ensuring the systematic provision of high-quality specialist psychology service to clients of the service team, across all sectors of care. The role will involve supervising and supporting the psychologically informed assessment and therapeutic intervention provided by the team whilst also offering highly specialist advice, consultation and supervision on clinical presentations where expertise is needed in neurodevelopmental conditions. . The post holder must work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the teams policies and procedures. The postholder must utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research within the area served by the team/service. CPD is supported and consideration of specialising in a relevant therapeutic intervention or specific field of special interest would be positively encouraged.

Qualifications
Essential

• Doctoral level training in clinical or counselling psychology, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the BPS
• Registered as a Psychologist with HCPC
• Meets all the eligibility criteria for Chartered Clinical or Counselling Psychologist status
• First degree in Psychology or related subject with the British Psychological Society's Graduate Basis for Registration
• M.Sc/Doctorate in Clinical or Counselling Psychology.

Desirable

• Pre-qualification training and qualifications in research methodology, staff training and/or other fields of applied psychology.

Experience
Essential

• Advanced knowledge of evidence based practice in the field of child psychology
• Knowledge of Child Protection procedures, the Children Act (89) and MHA as it applies to children and young people
• Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of children, adolescents and their families across the full range of care settings, including outpatient, community, primary care and in patient settings
• Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course presenting problems o Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision. o Experience of the application of clinical psychology in different cultural contexts. o Experience of working with looked after children. o Knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological therapies in specific difficult to treat groups (e.g. attachment work with looked after children). o High level knowledge of the theory and practice of at least two specialised psychological therapies. o Knowledge of legislation in relation to young people and mental health. 14 that reflect the full range of clinical severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse
