Job summaryThe Theatre Lead Robotic Coordinator is responsible for leading, coordinating, and developing the robotic surgery programme within the operating theatre environment. The post holder will provide clinical, operational, and educational leadership to ensure the safe, efficient, and effective delivery of robotic-assisted surgical procedures across multiple specialties.
Main duties of the job- Lead the day-to-day coordination of robotic surgical theatre activity. Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, policies, and clinical pathways relating to robotic surgery.
- Ensure safe and effective use of robotic surgical systems and associated equipment.
- Provide specialist advice and support to multidisciplinary teams involved in robotic-assisted surgery.
- Coordinate staff training, competency programmes, and ongoing professional development.

Job responsibilities- To provide expert assistance and support to Consultant Surgeons, junior medical, theatre staff and patients involved in Robotic Surgery.
- To exercise accountability as set out in the NMC / HCPC Code of Professional Conduct
- Take responsibility for the management of a clinical area.

Qualifications / Professional RegistrationEssential- 1st Level Live NMC Registered Nurse/ODP
- Registered Mentor
- Masters or equivalent level of study with ongoing/continuing professional development
- Recent knowledge and experience of specialist area gained through formal qualification or experiential learning
- Advanced Scrub Practitioner course
- Evidence of continuous professional development
- Teaching Certificate / Mentorship
- Evidence of competency in relation to nursing care practices appropriate to the post
- Evidence of recent knowledge and experience of specialist area gained through formal qualification or experiential learning. Has the skill and competence to ensure the delivery of evidence-based practice in line with NMC/HCPC professional requirements
Desirable- Da Vinci Robotic platform training
- Previous experience in assisting laparoscopic surgery
Experience and knowledgeEssential- Previous experience of working in operating theatres
- Has clinical experience gained at a high level of achievement and clinical excellence
- Recent evidence of supervision of students and junior staff
- Knowledge of or experience in coaching and mentoring practices and tools
- Knowledge of or experience in Quality improvement tools, techniques and methods
- Laparoscopic theatre experience
Other requirementsEssential- It is an essential requirement of the role that the post holder has a valid driving licence and is either a car owner and able to use the car for work purposes, or has a Trust personal lease vehicle which may be used for the role. However, the Trust would consider making reasonable adjustments to the role, if necessary, to enable a disabled person to undertake the role
