Optegra Eye Health Care is recruiting experienced, Scottish-based Ophthalmic Healthcare Support Workers (HCSWs), Healthcare Assistants (HCAs) and Clinical Support Workers to join our NHS ophthalmology insourcing service.

You'll support specialist weekend cataract pre-assessment clinics, working alongside experienced ophthalmic nurses and consultants to help NHS patients access cataract treatment sooner.

What We Offer

• £225 per day
• Flexible Saturday and Sunday sessions
• Opportunities through March 2027
• Self-employed, sessional work
• Select available weekends around your existing commitments
• Work alongside experienced ophthalmic clinical teams

The Role
Depending on your experience and competencies:

• Undertake visual acuity assessments, including Snellen and LogMAR
• Support biometry and IOLMaster testing
• Assist with ophthalmic diagnostic investigations
• Prepare patients for cataract assessment appointments
• Support clinic flow and patient coordination
• Prepare and maintain ophthalmic equipment
• Assist registered nurses and consultant ophthalmologists

Who We're Looking For
We're particularly interested in candidates with experience in:

• Ophthalmology outpatient departments or eye clinics
• Cataract assessment or pre-operative clinics
• Visual acuity testing
• Biometry, IOLMaster or other ophthalmic diagnostic equipment
• Supporting ophthalmic nurses and consultants

Previous cataract pre-assessment experience would be ideal, but experienced ophthalmic support staff with transferable skills are also encouraged to apply.
