We are looking for caring and committed individuals to join our healthcare assistant team supporting the team at Abingdon EMU.

The role will be 37.5 hours per week covering 8-8 weekdays and 10-4 weekends and bank holidays.

Full training and support available and will be provided. Opportunities for the right person to go on to be supported to undertake training to be a Registered Healthcare Professional.

This role works on a 7 day rota on a range of shifts including weekend and Bank Holidays. Enhanced hourly rates will be paid.

The ability to travel independently between sites within the Trust is essential for this role. Please note that mileage will be paid should you be required to travel between community hospital bases.

Its strongly advised to arrange an informal visit prior to submitting and application form. All interviews will be Face to Face.

Main duties of the job

• As a Healthcare Assistant, you will be instrumental in assisting the teams to meet the changing needs of the patients, provide personal care, assist in individual patient monitoring and be a patient advocate.
• Your commitment to providing excellent care at the place of the individual patient or ward need will demonstrate your patient focused approach.
• You will develop your skills and knowledge in a variety of patient specialities and ensure that the role is very rewarding.
• We are looking for individuals who show warmth and support to our patients and their families; helping to promote independence, dignity and positively enhancing the lives of individuals in our care.
• Contribute to patients' documentation, including assessment, goal planning, evaluation and risk assessments.
• Be integral to the implementation of policies, protocols and guidelines relevant to the clinical area.

Essential

• Previous experience of working in a clinical/rehabilitation or equivalent setting
• Under the direction of the registered nurse able to carry out planned components of care without close supervisionar clinical setting experience
• Able to undertake basic patient assessment using ABCDE and Physical Observations

Desirable

• Cannulation, phlebotomy catheterization, simple dressings

Personal Qualities
Essential

• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Enthusiasm to work with people and promote a therapeutic environment

Qualifications
Essential

• Core IT Skills
• Good level of numeracy and literacy skills - willingness to undertake assessment.

Desirable

• NVQ Level 3 in Health Care
