Job summary

Are you a motivated and experienced mental health professional seeking a new challenge within a well-established, skilled and friendly team?

We are looking for a Team Manager to join our South Oxfordshire Adult Mental Health Team, providing operational leadership within an integrated Mental Health and Social Care pathway designed to meet the needs of adults living with serious mental illness.

You would be based in Wallingford, in a locality team covering Wallingford, Thame and Henley-on-Thames, working alongside alongside Team Managers who cover Didcot, Wantage, Faringdon and Abingdon.

We are seeking an individual who is highly knowledgeable about mental health services and committed to ensuring the delivery of high-quality, safe and therapeutic care within the community.

In this role, you will work closely with clinical leaders and partner agencies to continue developing an effective, responsive and compassionate service, grounded in evidence-based practice and focused on delivering the best possible outcomes for service users.

You will be responsible for the operational management of the service, including budget oversight, workforce planning, recruitment and staff management. Main duties of the job
The main responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:
  • Work with the Service Manager to lead in the development of consistent standards across all AMHTs ensuring the effective delivery of high quality, affordable, and safe services.
  • Provide clear, visible leadership, and strategic vision to ensure every aspect of the user experience is delivered in a safe, efficient and evidence-based manner.
  • Work in partnership with primary care and the 3rd sector to develop clear and effective pathways for mental health.
  • Work in partnership with the inpatient wards to ensure that there is a clear pathway for patients and their families, delivering seamless transitions of care.
  • To lead and line manage an Adult Mental Health Team.
  • Support the Service Managers in the development, negotiation and performance monitoring of relevant service specifications.
  • Represent or deputise for the Service Managers where appropriate at Trusts or multi-agency forums.
  • Support the Service Manager working with staff, stakeholders, and commissioners to help develop and lead implementation of local & national initiatives, commissioning and Department of Health targets.

Experience
Essential
  • Demostrable experience of working in the community with people affected by serious mental illness
  • Qualified mental health professional (Mental health nurse, Occupational Therapist, Social Worker)

Desirable
  • Leadership qualification

Knowledge
Essential
  • Knowledge of interventions regarding people with serious mental illness
  • Knowledge of safeguarding
  • Understanding of the MHA and MCA in practice

Desirable
  • Understanding of the HRA in practice

Skills
Essential
  • Skill to build and retain workable relationships with staff and patients
  • Empower and retain staff to work to their best ability

Desirable
  • Budgetary management
