The Family Therapist role will deliver a high-quality, comprehensive mental health service for children, young people, and their families experiencing mental health and eating disorder challenges with and alongside the multidisciplinary team. You will be competent and confident in generic key working and risk assessment, able to engage a wide variety of people and innovative with your care plans .

We are looking for an experienced professional, who embraces technology, is able to meet the CAMHS core clinical standards, connect with the team and be able to think outside the box, to support and engage children, young people, and their families.

We have good professional support in our service and regular professional regional meetings. You will be supported by the Clinical Lead for Systemic Therapy and have the opportunity to connect with your professional colleagues.

Main duties of the job
Assessment and provision of NICE concordant treatments, including family-based treatment including FT-AN. The MDT consists of clinicians from a range of specialisms including psychology, nursing, occupational therapy, social work, psychotherapy, and psychiatry. In this role, you'll hold your own case load.

Key tasks: The assessment and treatment of young people with a range of mental health and eating disorder presentations

• Delivering family-based treatment and family and systemic psychotherapy to young people and families
• Maintaining a systemic perspective of the young people we see in context and using systemic skills such as systemic formulation to aid the evidence-based treatment we offer.

The role of systemic family therapist in accordance with the iThrive model is located predominantly within the 'Getting More Help' pathway and offers the opportunity to make second order change, enhancing the life trajectory of many young people, their family/carers who come to our service. You would work in collaboration with and alongside your team colleagues and other agencies and support networks. This is an opportunity for you to come to our service and develop your role to provide a family therapy clinic, bringing development opportunities for our staff and our professional colleagues working in other agencies.

Our service would benefit from a systemic family therapist with aspirations and a vision that promotes both systemic thinking and the profession.

Education
Essential

• Postgraduate qualification in family/systemic psychotherapy
• Maintenance of registration as a Systemic Psychotherapist with UKCP or equivalent body

Desirable

• Professional postgraduate qualification in a mental health or social welfare discipline or agreed Association for Family Therapy (AFT) equivalent
• Postgraduate qualification in systemic supervision

Knowledge
Essential

• Advanced knowledge and skills in the use of complex methods of systemic assessment and treatment of individuals, couples, family systems and groups, frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration
• Advanced knowledge of and skill in using a wide variety of systemic theories and interventions and the ability to use these appropriately in relation to client need, developmental stage of client and work setting
• Communication and relationship skills of the highest level in working with hostile patients and their families in situations of sexual abuse and where complex formulations need to be explained

Desirable

• Knowledge of the theory and practice of Systemic Psychotherapy/Family therapy in specific difficult to treat groups (e.g. personality disorder, eating disorders, learning difficulties, complex social and neurodiversity etc)
• Skills in providing advanced level systemic/ Family Therapy training and supervision to other professionals.

Experiance
Essential

• Substantial practice in relevant first profession.
• Substantial experience of working as a family and systemic psychotherapist within CAMHS.
• Experience of teaching and training Systemic/Family Therapy theory and skills to other professional and non-professional groups.

Desirable

• Experience of designing and implementing research projects.
