Job summary
We are looking for enthusiastic and dedicated SCRUB Nurses or ODP to join our team within the Gynaecology and Obstetric Theatres at the Women's Centre, John Radcliffe Hospital. Our department comprises five theatres and two recovery areas, providing care for a wide range of obstetric and gynaecological procedures.

As part of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a key role in ensuring the safe and effective delivery of perioperative care to women throughout their surgical journey. We are looking for registered nurses or ODPs (NMC or HCPC) with experience or a keen interest in theatre scrub. Excellent communication, teamwork and a commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care are essential.

Flexibility is required, as you will be expected to work a rota that includes days, nights, weekends, and bank holidays. Main duties of the job
You will be responsible for providing safe and effective perioperative care to women undergoing gynaecology and obstetric procedures. This includes preparing the theatre environment, assisting with positioning, monitoring patients throughout procedures, and ensuring safe surgical procedures. You will work closely with the multidisciplinary theatre team to maintain high standards of patient care, support smooth theatre flow, and respond promptly to any emergencies. In addition, you will be expected to contribute to maintaining accurate patient records, adhere to infection control and health and safety standards, and participate in departmental audits and quality improvement initiatives. Flexibility and adaptability are essential, as you will be required to work across both theatres and recovery areas, including days, nights, weekends, and bank holidays, providing high-quality care in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Job responsibilities
Clinical

• Plan and prepare equipment according to patients needs and procedures
• Implement and evaluate care plans as appropriate to surgical requirement and patients condition
• Monitoring and assessing patients condition, responding to changes in condition, proposing / making changes to care plan as required
• Directing and participating in the manoeuvring and the positioning of conscious and unconscious patients
• Handover and transferring responsibility of care to colleagues, ensuring appropriate information and care is relayed
