Job summaryWe are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Consultant Reporting Radiographer to provide expert clinical leadership and deliver a high-quality, radiographer-led reporting service across Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
This senior role requires an autonomous practitioner who can independently interpret and report complex imaging, influence patient management, and contribute to improved diagnostic pathways, patient outcomes, and service performance.
You will lead the strategic development of the reporting service, driving innovation, workforce transformation, and service improvement, while ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety, and governance.
Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, you will provide expert clinical decision-making, support education and training of radiographers, and contribute to research, audit, and national service development initiatives.

Main duties of the job- Independently interpret and report complex imaging examinations within an agreed scope of practice, influencing diagnosis and patient management
- Provide expert clinical decision-making and specialist advice to multidisciplinary teams and referrers

- Take responsibility for reporting quality, governance, audit, and performance monitoring

The post-holder will work autonomously to interpret and report complex imaging, influencing diagnosis, treatment decisions and patient outcomes.
Key responsibilities include leading the strategic development and transformation of the reporting service, improving capacity, efficiency and patient pathways while ensuring robust clinical governance, quality assurance and patient safety.
The role also involves providing specialist advice to multidisciplinary teams, leading education and training for radiographers, and contributing to audit, research and service innovation.
In addition, the post-holder will have some operational leadership responsibilities, including workforce planning, performance monitoring and service delivery across multiple sites, supporting the Trusts wider diagnostic and organisational priorities.
Person SpecificationEssential- HCPC registration as a Diagnostic Radiographer
- Postgraduate qualification in clinical image interpretation/reporting (e.g. PgCert, PgDip or MSc)
- Demonstrated consultant-level clinical judgement and decision-making
- Proven experience in service development, leadership and change management
- Experience in clinical governance, audit, risk management and quality improvement
Desirable- Doctorate level study or equivalent advanced professional development
- Multimodality reporting experience (e.g. CT and/or MRI)
- Recognised teaching or educational qualification
- Experience of leading Trust-wide or multisite services
- Project management and business case development experience
- Demonstrated contribution to regional or national professional practice and service innovation
