Description
Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
Senior Health Care Support Worker
The closing date is 20 November 2026
Job summary
We are looking to recruit a Clinical Support Worker for a 12-month fixed term post in the Sleep and Ventilation Department at the Churchill Hospital.
During this time you will have an opportunity to learn more about Sleep Apnoea, how it is diagnosed and treated, and support the team in managing a large cohort of domiciliary patients.
The Oxford Sleep and Ventilation Service is part of the Oxford Centre for Respiratory Medicine based at the Churchill Hospital. We are a tertiary service which has a world class clinical and academic reputation, delivering excellent care within Oxfordshire and surrounding counties.
We currently support more than 20,000 obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) patients on continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) and provide invasive and non-invasive ventilation to approximately 1500 patients at home, including those who have enhanced airway clearance needs.
The post is part of a MDT of consultants, nurses, physiotherapists, physiologists, and support workers, but also has strong links with other specialist services such as the home oxygen service, neurological services, and hospices.
Main duties of the job
The post involves supporting patients who are part of the Sleep and Ventilation Service in their treatment, along with the clinical team, and the general day-to-day running of the service.
This role includes, but is not limited to, setting up sleep study devices that you will show to patients to take home and use, along with downloading the data once returned and uploading to the patients electronic record, triaging messages sent in from patients daily, maintaining the stockroom, and cleaning returned devices to be serviced by the clinical engineers.
