Job summaryMy name is Lisa Broom, I am the Operational Manager for Dispensaries and Near Patient Services at Oxford University Hospitals. I am privileged to lead our very hardworking Dispensary and Ward Based Technical Teams in providing services to our patients across the organisation.
I am looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated and proactive Registered Pharmacy Technician to work jointly with the existing Senior Dispensary Technician in leading the team at the Horton Hospital in Banbury. The candidate will be required to work closely with the Pharmacy Operational and Dispensary teams in the following key areas:
- Providing regular dispensing/checking duties as required.
- Assisting in training and induction of new members of staff.
- Day to day responsibility for the service provision and staff leadership and management.
- Monitoring of workload and tracking screen to support our TTO KPI.
The dispensary team is a small but united team of 8 staff ranging from Pharmacy Apprentices through to experienced Pharmacy Technicians. The candidate will be dispensary based, and be required to participate in weekend working on a 1:6 rota basis, late duty and bank holiday rotas.
The post is permanent and forms part of a job share with the existing Senior Technician to ensure leadership and management across the working week.
Main duties of the jobTo assist the Operational Manager in the provision of a safe and efficient dispensing service to in-patient and outpatients, including participation in all aspects of dispensing process. Working as an Accredited Technician Checker and act within the limitations of the role and refer where necessary. To be responsible for the day to day service, providing support and advice to colleagues, medical staff and patients as required. To continuously monitor dispensary workload, delegating tasks and redeploying staff accordingly to optimise efficiency and meet our Key Performance Indicators with the ability to judge workload and when to escalate to prevent it reaching unmanageable levels.
