Job summaryAre you interested in Antimicrobial Stewardship, including antifungal stewardship? Are you looking to expand your clinical knowledge about antimicrobial stewardship, whilst developing or maturing your teaching and research skills. Would you like to do this in a team that will support you to develop your leadership skills? Look no further. We are looking for an Antimicrobial Stewardship Specialist Pharmacist to come and be part of our diverse MDT specialising in antimicrobial stewardship (both adults and paediatrics). The team is composed of Infection Consultants, a Consultant Pharmacist, an AMS Advanced Clinical Practitioner, an Advanced Pharmacist for Antifungal Stewardship, specialist AMS pharmacists, a pharmacy technician and a data analyst. You will work closely with our Microbiology, Infectious Diseases, COPAT and Infection Prevention and Control teams as well as the specialist clinical teams, Medicines Safety and Informatics team.
Main duties of the job- To work as part of the multidisciplinary antimicrobial stewardship team within the Trust to deliver the antimicrobial stewardship improvement plan, which is moving towards a seven day service.
- To help reduce development of resistance by promoting stewardship ideals and reducing inappropriate consumption of antimicrobials.
- To support the Consultant Pharmacist for Antimicrobial Stewardship, Lead Consultant Microbiology / Infectious Diseases for Antimicrobial Prescribing (adult and paediatrics), other Microbiology / Infectious Diseases Consultants and Infection Prevention and Control team in developing a Trust-wide culture that reduces healthcare-associated infection and supports excellent antimicrobial prescribing.
- To develop an expert knowledge in antimicrobials and infection management and be a point of contact for advice and support within the Trust in this area. This will include being on a rota which covers an antimicrobial pharmacy service bleep.
- To promote judicious use of antimicrobials by development and implementation of evidence based antimicrobial guidance based on local and national resistance patterns.
- Plan and undertake or support others in the Trust to undertake clinical audit relating to antimicrobial use and feedback to clinical areas and Antimicrobial Steering Group.
- Support the Trust strategy for education and training in relation to antimicrobial prescribing, monitoring and patient education.

Person SpecificationEssential- Qualified to masters degree level (MPharm or equivalent)
- Member of the GPhC
- Post graduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy in Clinical Pharmacy, or equivalent.
- Working as a hospital pharmacist
- Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
