Job summary

The successful candidate will need the ability to work autonomously within the context of a multi-disciplinary team approach & undertake specific work with young people and their families. Excellent assessment skills & the ability to formulate clinical decisions and management plans are essential, including assessment and management of risk.

The role will be within Oldham CAMHS team, assessing and formulating treatment plans for young people. This will involve both urgent and routine mental health assessments.

You will strive to achieve the best for every young person, show commitment to delivering evidence based practice & the capability of making clinical decisions around complex and emotive issues, supported by knowledge of relevant legislation & safeguarding in relation to the client group. You will monitor and evaluate treatment offered to service users adhering to professional and Trust guidelines & using routine outcome measures related to service development and reporting. You must be an excellent communicator, flexible, self motivated & have a willingness to build links with colleagues across team & agencies.

1x full time permanent role & 0.6wte permanent role available

Main duties of the job
This is a busy multi-disciplinary CAMHS team which includes nurses, psychologists, social workers and psychiatrists. A key focus of the service leadership team will be implementing transformation that ensures timely access to high quality care. Our vision is for our local community to be well equipped to support the young people of Oldham to grow up with good emotional health and wellbeing. We work closely with our partners in education, children's services and the 3rd sector to achieve the recently developed ambitious Local Transformation Plan for CAMHS services. This plan provides us with the guide and resources to begin delivering our vision of having CAMHS workers available in new ways, and working closely with children's universal and targeted services in each of our locality areas.

Essential
  • Ability to undertake appropriate mental health assessments
  • Ability to carry out therapeutic interventions with this client group
  • Ability to work well with a team
  • Ability to manage a caseload effectively

  • Ability to work creatively and flexibly in a clinical context

Knowledge
Essential
  • Knowledge of mental health issues in young people
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and National policies in relation to young people
  • Knowledge of therapeutic interventions with young people

Desirable
  • Understanding of Youth Offending services.
  • Knowledge of drug and alcohol issues relating to young people

Experience
Essential
  • Professional involvement with the users of mental health services.
  • Experience of case management of young people
  • Experience of multi-agency working

Desirable
  • Experience of relating to young people in a group or community setting.

Education / Qualifications
Essential
  • NMC nursing or social work or equivalent Health /social care qualification
  • Significant post qualification experience in community mental health services to post graduate diploma level
