About the Role
We are seeking an experienced GP to join us as a Medical Lead for the Special Allocations Scheme (SAS) to provide outstanding clinical leadership.

This is an exciting opportunity for a GP who wants to make a meaningful impact by supporting patients with complex needs, including those who may have experienced trauma, social challenges, or barriers to accessing mainstream healthcare.

This is a part-time role, working 30 hours per week.

Working as part of a dedicated multidisciplinary team, you will lead clinical practice across our SAS service, Enhanced Access and Winchester Front Door Service helping shape safe, effective services across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. Providing high-quality remote triage and face-to-face consultations for our SAS service.

The role supports multiple services across the region, and the successful candidate will be required to work flexibly across the service operating hours.

Service coverage includes:
  • Special Allocations Scheme (SAS): Monday to Friday, 08:00–18:30
  • Enhanced Access Service: Monday to Friday, 18:00–21:00 and Saturdays, 09:00–17:00
  • Winchester Urgent Care Clinic: Monday to Friday, 18:30–23:00 and weekends, 08:00–18:00

Working patterns will be discussed during the recruitment process and will reflect the needs of the services.

This is a Hybrid role comprising of remote hours and onsite at Segensworth (with travel required between Havant, Waterlooville and Winchester sites as required)

Key Responsibilities
As Medical Lead, you will:
  • Provide clinical leadership and support to GPs, healthcare assistants, and wider clinical teams
  • Deliver safe, evidence-based patient care through assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and referral
  • Support patients through holistic, person-centred care that considers physical, psychological, and social needs
  • Lead on clinical governance, quality improvement, incident reviews, and service development
  • Build strong relationships with healthcare partners, GP colleagues, and wider system stakeholders
  • Contribute to the Enhanced Access Service and Winchester Urgent Care Clinic, helping improve access and reduce pressure on urgent care pathways

About You
You will be an experienced GP with:
  • Full GMC registration with licence to practise
  • Inclusion on the NHS Performers List (without restrictions or conditions)
  • MRCGP or equivalent recognised qualification
  • Minimum 3 years post-CCT experience (desirable)
  • Experience working in primary care
  • Strong clinical judgement and excellent communication skills
  • A commitment to continuous learning, governance, and improving patient outcomes

Experience supporting patients with complex needs, including mental health, neurodiversity, substance misuse, homelessness, or similar backgrounds, would be highly desirable.
