Description

Job summary
We are looking for a caring and enthusiastic Practice Nurse or registered Nursing Associate to join our supportive team at Tudor Lodge Surgery. This is a full-time role of 37.5 hours over four days, working Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday; Tuesday is the non-working day.

The opportunity would suit a newly qualified nurse, a nurse in the first one to two years of their career, or a registered Nursing Associate who wants to build a rewarding career in general practice. Previous primary care experience is welcome but is not essential. We are particularly interested in finding someone with the right values, a safe approach to practice and a genuine willingness to learn.

Main duties of the job
Working alongside our experienced nursing and multidisciplinary team, you will provide treatment-room care and support the delivery of high-quality preventive and long-term-condition services. Your duties will be introduced according to your existing competence and an agreed development plan.
  • Wound assessment and dressings, progressing to compression therapy when appropriately trained and competent
  • Adult and childhood immunisations when trained, competent and appropriately authorised
  • Cervical screening after completion of the recognised training and competency pathway
  • Venepuncture and specimen handling (less of this as your skills develop)
  • Diabetes work-ups and agreed pre-review checks (less of this as your skills develop)
  • 12-lead ECGs and routine physiological observations
  • Health promotion, accurate clinical records and timely escalation of concerns

About us
You will join a friendly and supportive team that values safe care, good communication and professional development. We recognise that someone early in their career needs time, supervision and encouragement to grow. You will have access to an appropriate induction, regular support and a structured development plan, with opportunities to gain further skills relevant to primary care.

We work collaboratively across clinical and non-clinical roles and want every member of the team to feel able to ask questions, share ideas and contribute to improving patient care. We also like to laugh... lunchtimes can be an absolute hoot :)

We have c.12,300 patients, a wide demographic. A fabulous multidisciplinary team. Its a great place to work.
