Current Performance Snapshot
CQC Good overall and in all five areas | 100% occupancy | Zero agency use

The Role
As Registered Manager, you will take overall responsibility for care quality, people, regulatory compliance and financial performance across Mallard House’s two units. Your focus will be to sustain the service’s strengths, develop colleagues and identify opportunities to improve residents’ experiences and outcomes.

You will lead the management team, including Deputy and Clinical Managers, and work closely with nursing, therapy, catering and estates colleagues. Visible and approachable, you will set clear expectations, support sound clinical judgement and ensure that person-centred care is reflected in everyday practice.

Strong governance will underpin your leadership. You will oversee safeguarding, risk management, audits and service standards, ensuring concerns are acted on and learning leads to improvement. You will become the CQC Registered Manager for the centre and maintain readiness for inspection.

You will also manage budgets and service contracts, sustain appropriate occupancy and work with the referrals team to maintain effective relationships with commissioners, funders and other partners. Workforce planning, development and retention will help protect the continuity of care provided by the permanent team.

About You
You will hold current NMC or HCPC registration and have previous experience as a Registered Manager. You will bring at least five years’ care sector experience with a relevant resident group and at least three years of successful team management.

Experience of specialist neurological care, neurorehabilitation or a closely related complex care service will equip you to understand residents’ needs and lead confidently alongside clinical and therapy professionals. You will have a strong understanding of CQC and other regulatory requirements, with evidence of managing budgets, meeting targets and maintaining high standards.

We are seeking an inspiring and forward-thinking leader who combines strong leadership skills, sound commercial judgement and a compassionate, person-centered approach. You will be an excellent listener who empowers and develops others, builds constructive relationships and ensures accountability through effective follow-through. With an in-depth understanding of neurological conditions and strong strategic thinking, you will provide clear direction, drive continuous quality improvement and lead service development. Above all, you will be passionate about delivering safe, high-quality and sustainable services that place residents’ safety, choices, dignity and wellbeing at the heart of every decision.

Why Lead Mallard House
Mallard House brings neurological nursing and rehabilitation expertise together in one purpose-built centre. Its two units, Oakley and Brunel, support adults with progressive neurological conditions and complex rehabilitation needs, including acquired brain injury.

You will work alongside a multidisciplinary team that includes clinical neuropsychology, physiotherapy, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy and engagement colleagues. This breadth of expertise creates opportunities to learn, collaborate and help residents achieve meaningful goals.

With full occupancy, no agency use and Good ratings across all five CQC areas, your opportunity is to build on a service with clear strengths, supporting the team to sustain performance and continue improving.
