Job summary
We are looking for a salaried GP to join our friendly and supportive team for 2-5 sessions per week. We are seeking someone flexible, collaborative, and committed to providing high-quality patient care. The ideal candidate will enjoy working as part of a close-knit practice team, bring a positive and professional approach to their work, and be confident in navigating the occasional IT or operational challenge that arises in modern general practice.

Main duties of the job
  • Providing high-quality primary care to a list of registered patients.
  • Conducting consultations, diagnosing conditions, and prescribing treatments.
  • Managing a share of the duty rota, including urgent and same-day appointments.
  • Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, including partners, salaried GPs, nurses, and admin staff.
  • Contributing to the teaching and supervision of F2 doctors.
  • Completing administrative tasks such as referrals, prescription requests, and reviewing test results.
  • Participating in team meetings and practice improvement initiatives.
  • Maintaining accurate patient records using SystmOne.

We are a well-established practice serving a population of 5,000 patients. Our team consists of two Partners, two Salaried GPs, an ANP, a Practice Nurse, a Healthcare Assistant, and a highly efficient administrative team. As a teaching practice, we regularly host F2 doctors and are committed to supporting clinical development and high-quality education.

Job description
Job responsibilities
We are looking for a Salaried General Practitioner for 4 sessions per week

Poole Town Surgery is a supportive practice serving a patient population of 5000. Our team includes 2 partners, 2 salaried GPs, an Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP), a Practice Nurse, a Healthcare Assistant, and a highly efficient admin team. We are also a teaching practice, regularly hosting F2 doctors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide high-quality, patient-centred care to a diverse patient population.
  • Conduct consultations, diagnosing and treating a range of medical conditions.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date medical records using SystmOne.
  • Manage a personal patient list and contribute to the duty rota, covering urgent care and same-day appointments.
  • Collaborate with the wider multidisciplinary team, including nursing and administrative staff, to ensure smooth and effective patient care.
  • Participate in the supervision and teaching of F2 doctors, sharing knowledge and contributing to their training and development.
  • Complete necessary administrative tasks such as reviewing test results, referrals, and prescriptions.
  • Participate in clinical meetings, audits, and quality improvement initiatives within the practice.
  • Adhere to practice policies and procedures, and maintain compliance with CQC standards.

  • Fully qualified GP, registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) and on the GP register.
  • Experience in primary care with a strong commitment to patient care.
  • Flexibility, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Someone who is proactive, organised, and able to manage their workload efficiently.
  • Comfortable with paperwork and able to handle occasional IT challenges.
  • A positive attitude and a willingness to contribute to the overall development of the practice.

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
  • Fully qualified GP, registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) and on the GP register.
  • Experience in primary care with a strong commitment to patient care.
  • Flexibility, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Someone who is proactive, organised, and able to manage their workload efficiently.
  • Comfortable with paperwork and able to handle occasional IT challenges.
  • A positive attitude and a willingness to contribute to the overall development of the practice.

Desirable
  • MRCGP (Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners) indicating completion of specialist GP training.
  • Experience in teaching or mentoring particularly in a primary care setting, given the practice's role as a teaching environment for F2 doctors.
  • Postgraduate qualifications in relevant areas (e.g., Diploma in Family Planning, Dermatology, Diabetes, or Minor Surgery).
  • Additional training or certification in mental health, chronic disease management, or women's health.
  • Experience or certification in clinical leadership or practice development.
  • Experience with SystmOne or other GP clinical software.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification, up to date.
