Lincoln House Surgery is seeking an experienced and confident Lead Practice Nurse with current GP Surgery experience who can hit the ground running from day one.
This is not a role for someone new to general practice. We are looking for a nurse with solid experience in a GP surgery/primary care setting, who is already competent and confident in the day-to-day responsibilities of a Practice Nurse and can provide leadership to an established team.
This is a full-time position including one late evening clinic (10am to 6pm). You will be expected to work across both sites on a rota basis.
You will provide excellent patient care while taking a key leadership role within the nursing team, helping ensure high standards, compliance and smooth day-to-day operations.
You will be expected to confidently manage a broad range of General Practice nursing duties.
Main duties of the job- Adult and childhood vaccination and immunisation programmes
- Travel vaccinations and travel health advice
- Cervical cytology (smears)
- Health assessments and new patient checks
- Hypertension management and reviews
- Asthma, COPD and Diabetes clinics/reviews
- Wound care and dressings
- Long-term condition management
- Medication reviews and treatment monitoring
- Family planning support
- Health promotion and preventative care
- Phlebotomy, ECGs and treatment room procedures
- Opportunistic care and patient education
Leadership & management responsibilities:As Lead Nurse, you will help shape and support the nursing team through:
- Day-to-day clinical leadership and supervision
- Managing nursing team rotas and clinical cover
- Supporting staff development, mentorship and appraisals
- Monitoring staff competencies and training requirements
- Managing and supporting staff absence processes
- Ensuring policies and procedures are followed
- Acting as a role model for excellent clinical standards
- Supporting recruitment, induction and team development
Leading on Infection Prevention & Control (IPC)
- Supporting and maintaining CQC compliance
- Leading audits and quality improvement projects
- Developing and reviewing clinical policies
- Ensuring nursing team compliance and standards are maintained
- Maintaining accurate records and evidence gathering

Person SpecificationQualificationsEssential- Registered Nurse with current NMC PIN
- Minimum 3 years' post-registration experience in a GP Surgery/Primary Care setting
- General Practice Nurse Foundation Programme (or equivalent experience)
DesirableExperienceEssential- General Practice Nurse Foundation Programme (or equivalent experience)
- Current experience delivering adult and childhood immunisations
- Experience providing travel vaccinations and advice
- Competent in cervical cytology
- Strong treatment room and chronic disease management skills
- Experience with Asthma, COPD and Diabetes reviews
- Knowledge of clinical governance and quality improvement
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
Desirable- Previous Lead Practice Nurse or supervisory experience
- Experience leading audits and IPC
