About the role
Highbank has an opportunity for an Occupational Therapist with experience in Neurological services to join our team. The Priory Highbank Centre is a 19 bedded facility for Neuro-rehabilitation and complex neuro-disability. Service users are referred mainly from NHS funders across the country for slow stream neuro rehabilitation or specialist assessments like PDoC assessments by experienced clinicians. The team also manages those people with complex tracheostomy and/or mechanical ventilation for specialist assessments or slow stream neuro-rehabilitation.

Working in conjunction with other members of the MDT, including physiotherapists, speech and language therapist, neuropsychologist, medical and nursing teams, you will manage your own caseload and be able to work autonomously, flexibly and creatively. You will be part of a committed, forward thinking and supportive multi-disciplinary team who work together and place emphasis on patient centred recovery and best outcomes for our patients.

Help with the complex needs of our service users to maximise their physical, emotional and social potential and wellbeing. Carry out OT and neuro assessments to identify patient needs, before planning and delivering the appropriate interventions on either an individual or group basis. Manage and co-ordinate individual OT treatment plans, facilitate therapeutic groups and oversee the unit social/meaningful activities and programmes with therapy assistants/activities organizer. Compose OT reports and attend multidisciplinary meetings. Work as a key member of the multidisciplinary team for patient care and treatment, including planning and supporting safe discharge plans in liaison with the commissioning teams. Deliver supervision to Therapy Assistants where appropriate. Develop close working relationships with external professionals and clinical colleagues, ensuring clinical practice is in line with Priory policies and procedures and complies with statutory regulations and quality standards. Maintain effective communication links with patients, relatives, carers and external stakeholders.

Requirements
Candidates must be HCPC registered and hold a Diploma in Occupational Therapy or a relevant degree (including honours degree, postgraduate certificate, postgraduate diploma, or Master’s pre-registration qualification in Occupational Therapy) You will also have the specialist skill and experience of working with neurological and brain injuries in a mixture of physical, sensory, cognitive, emotional & psychological difficulties e.g. prolonged disorders of consciousness, long term medical conditions, etc.
