Description

Priory Hospital Chelmsford
Priory Hospital Chelmsford is looking to recruit a Family Therapist to join the team. This is a part-time/30 Hours role. This is a part-time position (30 hours per week), with a pro rata salary of £32,000–£42,400 per annum, depending on experience.

Situated within three acres of landscaped grounds, Priory Hospital Chelmsford is an independent hospital that specialises in the treatment and management of adults and adolescents with a range of mental health problems. There is a highly experienced team of mental health professionals and support staff, which include consultant psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses and therapists. The hospital offers calming and recovery focused residential treatment for up to 60 service users, as well as day care and outpatient services, including separate facilities for young people.

You’ll be part of a dedicated and compassionate team, all working together to ensure the smooth running of the hospital and to support the wellbeing of our patients. While your role doesn’t involve providing direct care, your contribution is vital in helping to maintain a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for everyone. Whether you're assisting with day-to-day operations, keeping things organised, or ensuring our spaces are well looked after, your support plays an important part in creating a positive experience for those who live and work here.

Responsibilities
  • Provide therapeutic support and interventions to children, adolescents, and their families to address mental health challenges.
  • Facilitate family therapy sessions to improve communication, resolve conflicts, and strengthen family relationships.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary CAMHS team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Assess family dynamics and identify factors affecting the young person’s mental health and wellbeing.
  • Offer guidance and support to families to promote coping strategies and resilience during inpatient treatment.

Skills and Experience Required
  • A recognised qualification in Family Therapy, including completion of a four-year Master’s level training programme.
  • Full and active membership of relevant professional bodies such as the Association for Family Therapy (AFT) and the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP).
  • A strong foundation in psychological theories and family systems therapy, with the ability to apply a range of therapeutic models effectively.
  • Demonstrable experience working with children, adolescents, and families within clinical, community, or mental health settings (ideally CAMHS).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport, establish trust, and manage complex and sensitive family dynamics.
  • Proven ability to assess, formulate, and deliver tailored interventions, taking into account diverse family structures, cultural backgrounds, and individual needs.
  • Experience of working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams, contributing to holistic and integrated care planning.
