Job summary
Ludlow Ward is a 16 bedded single side room facility, caring for patients on both NHS and Private pathways and provide a welcoming and supportive team environment that takes great pride in our nursing care.

Under the direction of the Ward/ department manager you will be responsible for providing skilled high quality nursing care within a multidisciplinary environment, ensuring individualised and effective care is practiced.

Please note we have no access to OSCE support courses, and nurses pending registration are welcome to apply but must be able to evidence that they have a satisfied the NMC Objective Structured Clinical Examination Test of Competence.

Main duties of the job
You will be a Registered Nurse (General) who is able to demonstrate excellent clinical practice, and good communication skills.

Contributing to the continuity of good team spirit and high standards of nursing care. Empowering junior staff to develop the highest possible level of clinical skills and facilitates communication within all care groups

Utilising the ward/department resources to promote excellence in practice and promote and expedite qualityissues relevant to the service delivery

Job responsibilities
To be responsible for the delivery of patient centered care. Maintaining own specialist knowledge and clinical skills participating in direct patient care and uphold evidence of PREP standards as required by the NMC. The post holder must be able to demonstrate extremely developed dexterous skills during clinical practice and the capability to manage periods of moderate physical effort during the shift worked.

Assess care required, requesting medical input as necessary and devising appropriate care programmes for the patient, implementing and evaluating care during the admission and in preparation for a safe discharge. Supported by written evidence.

To identify the learning needs of the patient, relatives and staff, and in consultation with the Ward/ department staff will plan and implement education to meet those needs

Person Specification
Qualifications, Attainments and Professional Registrations
  • Current or pending NMC Registration

Experience
  • Recent clinical experience within a healthcare setting
  • Orthopaedic experience

Professional Development
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development

Skills and competencies
  • Able to demonstrate a clear understanding of - time management, clinical governance, principles of audit and research, basic IT literacy
  • Able to demonstrate competent supervision of the care of a group of patients
  • Able to demonstrate up to date clinical competence
  • EGG, Cannulation, Venepunction, Urethral Catheterisation of patients
  • IV therapy administration
