Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 7 BABCP Accredited CBT Therapist to join our team. We require a highly skilled and motivated practitioner to work as part of a dynamic psychological therapies team providing high quality, specialist evidence-based treatment to primary and secondary care patients. The post holder will be innovative, enthusiastic and flexible and able to work both autonomously and as part of the team.

Main duties of the job
The postholder will offer Cognitive Behaviour therapy, working into the North Locality treatment team and into the Primary Care Integrated Mental Health Hub offering specialist CBT assessment and intervention, developing formulations and implementing evidence-based interventions in line with NICE guidance. This post also offers an opportunity to develop skills in consultation through offering consultation to staff in the teams as needed.

They will work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team's policies and procedures. They will also be committed to the principles of recovery, have effective interpersonal and time management skills as well as being a responsive and motivated team player.

The successful applicant will be BABCP accredited or be willing to work towards this.

The successful candidates will receive management supervision from the team manager and clinical supervision from a Senior CBT Therapist. There will also be the opportunity to access appropriate training to further develop skills.

Qualifications
Essential
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
  • BABCP accreditation or eligible for accreditation as a CBP with BABCP, and in agreement to work towards this with in the first year.
  • Professional qualification in a core health profession and be registered with their professional body

Desirable
  • BABCP accredited qualification in Clinical Supervision in CBT
  • Qualification for working with complex presentations for example, with psychosis or complex emotional needs
  • Post qualification training such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy, Behavioural Activation, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy, ACT, IPT, CBASP, Couples Therapy.

Experience
Essential
  • Experience working with complex presentations and managing risk
  • Experience of working with adults with severe and enduring mental health problems and complexity
  • Experience of managing risk associated with mental health
  • Receive regular Clinical Supervision from accredited Psychotherapist or Clinical Psychologist.
  • Experience of delivering therapy groups

Desirable
  • Experience of offering CBT clinical supervision for newly qualified CBT therapists
  • Experience of multi-disciplinary team working.
  • Experience of providing supervision
  • Experience of working with minority groups
  • Experience of working with psychosis
  • Experience of working with complex emotional needs

Knowledge
Essential
  • Knowledge of how to design and implement plans for formal psychological treatment and/or management of clients with highly complex mental health problems. Employing methods based on evidence and NICE guidance across a wide range of care settings.
  • Maintain knowledge of current developments within own specialist field and adult mental health generally

Skills/Abilities
Essential
  • Establish and maintain effective professional relationships with colleagues and the communities we serve
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective therapeutic alliances with clients, who may be challenging, highly emotive and distressed.
  • Communicate effectively with patients their families, carers, and other professional colleagues, both within and outside the NHS.
  • Maintain up to date clinical records, including electronic data entry, text processing, report and note writing.
  • Maintain CPD as part of BABCP requirements
  • Ability to work autonomously.

Desirable
  • Provide consultation and advice on matters related to adult psychotherapy to members of the multi-disciplinary mental health service, local primary care teams, and other agencies responsible for client care.
