Job summaryAn exciting opportunity has arisen for a senior physiotherapist to join our Mental Health services at Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust.
This is a rare and rewarding opportunity to work at the forefront of specialist mental health physiotherapy, providing expert clinical input and leadership across Phoenix High Dependency Rehabilitation and Rotherham Acute Mental Health Ward. This will be 2.5 days at Phoenix High Dependency Rehab Unit and 1.9 days on the Rotherham Care Group Acute wards at Swollownest court.
This role will be part of a multi-disciplinary team assessing physiotherapy needs and providing clinically effective and efficient interventions on an individual and group basis for people with mental health needs.
Main duties of the jobTo provide specialist assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with complex physiotherapy problems as an autonomous practitioner for adults with mental health problems.
To manage a defined caseload using evidence based/client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions and record all interventions.
To provide clinical education and training.
To provide physiotherapy clinical input within the HDU Mental Health Team working as a member of the multi-professional team.
To complete home visits and outreach work to enable safe and timely discharge.
To be responsible for providing information to the Clinical Lead Mental Health Physiotherapist and the HDU Team Manager as needed.

QualificationsEssential- HCPC Registered Physiotherapist BSc or Diploma in Physiotherapy
- Understanding and knowledge of clinical governance issues within own clinical practice and wider implications for delivery of patient services
- Portfolio evidence of reflective practice, relevant experience, and CPD.
- Evidence of relevant post-graduate courses
- IT skills.
Desirable- Management/leadership courses
- Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.
- Relevant M level post- graduate modules.
ExperienceEssential- Appropriate demonstrable experience as a Band 5 physiotherapist in a broad range of areas including adequate relevant experience of working with working age and/or older people with mental health conditions, including functional and organic illness.
- Extensive experience of working as part of a physiotherapy and multidisciplinary team.
- Experience of networking within physiotherapy and in the wider Health & Social Care community.
- Experience in clinical audit, research, and effectiveness
- Clinical education and development of physiotherapy staff and other members of the MDT.
Desirable- Experience in undertaking personal development appraisal.
- Leadership experience.
- Involvement in physiotherapy projects/working groups.
KnowledgeDesirable- Broad knowledge of current best practice in Physiotherapy and mental health.
- Knowledge of principles of Recovery and person centred approach to care.
SkillsEssential- Good communication and listening skills with an understanding of the needs of people with disabilities and their carers.
- Presentation skills
- Ability to work in collaboration with others and positively influence or coach others in development of skills and knowledge.
