Job Summary
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a senior and highly experienced Social Worker to work for a dynamic and progressive organisation to deliver Social Work education and leadership. The Social Work Children Development Lead position offers a great opportunity for a Social Worker whose core values are to place children at the centre of all learning and ensure approaches to workforce development and wellbeing are compassionate and high quality.

This role requires a leader who is a passionate social worker, an innovator, and personally motivated to work with social workers working in a range of different roles; care group leader's; corporate leader's and several multi-professional teams who support a high standard of clinical care provision, supervision, and education. The role will focus upon supporting the development of NHS Social Work and the professional identity of our social workers and representing the Trust at regional meetings, ensuring learning and opportunities are conveyed and utilised 'in Trust'.

Your experience as an RDaSH employee will begin with a robust Trust induction and continuing professional development (CPD) will be supported by dedicated monthly Trust Learning Half Days.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide a highly visible educational and leadership role for all Social Work staff across all directorates, with a specific focus on children services. Working with clinical and operational leaders across Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust (RDaSH) to ensure compliance with professional standards and development of high-quality integrated care across the Trust.

There will be a particular emphasis on social work student placements, the practice education of student social workers, support and supervision responsibilities to Experienced Social Workers, joint co-ordination responsibilities for Newly Qualified Social Workers undertaking the Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) programme, to support and supervise their learning and development. The post holder will support the delivery of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programmes and the development of Social Work Apprenticeship.

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
  • Highly developed professional knowledge gained through a recognised Social Work Qualification (Diploma in Social Work, BA Hons, BSc Hons, MA or equivalent qualification)
  • Current registration and maintenance of registration with Social Work England

Desirable
  • Best Interest Assessor or Approved Mental Health Professional
  • Practice Educating experience and qualified to Practice Educator Professional Standards (PEPS) Stages 1 & 2 (or commitment to obtain qualification)

Training
Essential
  • Knowledge and experience of delivering Social Work reflective supervision.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based models of Social Work practice, assessments and interventions and strong reflective practice.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development

Desirable
  • Evidence of developing Social Workers within the Professional Capability Framework (PCF) and Post Qualifying Standard (PQS), and Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE).
  • Experience of developing and delivering training

Knowledge
Essential
  • Specialist knowledge of Social Work procedural and legislative frameworks, initiatives, and systems.
  • Knowledge of emerging developments and political agendas, and their impact on service and organisational delivery.
  • Understanding of Equal Opportunities principles and valuing diversity in employment and the delivery of services.

Desirable
  • Understanding of the commissioning environment, complex client risk assessment, and the cost of resources and implications for service delivery.

Experience
Essential
  • Extensive experience leading a health and social care team effectively at a senior level
  • Experience of providing advice and guidance to other staff on complex cases or issues.
  • Leading multi-disciplinary and partnership working.
  • Managing safeguarding concerns and providing advice to staff regarding complex issues.
  • Experience of chairing meetings.
  • Experience of delivering a Lived Experience/Service User/Patient focused service.
  • Driving standards and performance contributing to strategic direction, in a changeable environment.
  • Extensive experience of managing change effectively across services/organisations, with the ability to identify, propose and implement solutions.

Desirable
  • Experience of working in a Mental Health service

Skills
Essential
  • Authority and credibility to build relationships influence and engage successfully with colleagues, partners, People with Lived Experience/Service Users/Patients, families, carers and advocates, at all levels in complex or politically sensitive situations.
  • Evidence of commitment to multi-agency agency working.
  • Ability to practice as a lead specialist within social work, guided by Social Work England Professional Standards, legal frameworks and local policies and guidance.
  • Highly organised with a solution focused, logical and innovative approach to challenges.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, persuasion and negotiating skills.
  • Excellent record keeping, report writing and presentational skills
  • Excellent planning, workload management and project management skills.
  • Good IT Skills including use of Microsoft applications and specialist systems.
  • Proven ability to manage, develop and motivate a multi- disciplinary team of professional and/or vocationally qualified and support staff.
