Please note the simulation date is 11th September 2026 and the interview date is 18th September 2026Main duties of the jobThis is a 10 PA post for a Consultant Acute Physician with or without a specialty interest, at the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust.
The post holder will share clinical and managerial leadership within the acute medicine service with the present consultants. An office base with secretarial and administrative support will be provided.
Clinical Responsibilities:- Provide, alongside the current team, the acute medicine service at the Royal Berkshire Hospital, including in-patient and same day emergency care
- Provide clinical supervision to junior medical staff working within the department
- Comply with the GMC requirements of the Duties of a Doctor at all times
Management Responsibilities:- Active participation in monthly clinical governance and consultant meetings
- Active participation in departmental audit and quality improvement projects
- Active participation in trainee teaching and development

Person SpecificationEducation & QualificationsEssential- Full registration with the GMC/eligible for registration within 6 months of CCST in Acute Medicine at interview date
- Membership of the Royal College of Physicians of the United Kingdom or equivalent
Desirable- Higher degree e.g. PhD/ MD submitted/awarded
Clinical Experience, knowledge & skillsEssential- Previous responsibility for clinical governance and GMC Good Medical Practice
- Experience in all aspects of general medicine and patient care
Personal QualitiesEssential- Able to abide by the Trust CARE Values; Compassionate, Aspirational, Respectful and Excellence
- Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary team, understanding each others unique role
