Job summaryThe Haematology team are a dynamic, forward-thinking team, consisting of seven consultants, a specialist registrar, a haemostasis CNS team, and a transplant co-ordination team, all providing care across the inpatient and outpatient setting.
The Band 7 Transplant/Apheresis CNS will in conjunction with the clinical Lead and peripheral transplant units be responsible for ensuring that the service meets and maintains the requirements specified by the HTA and JACIE.
Provide specialist nursing advice to support and facilitate high quality, individualised care to patients /clients and relatives/carers in collaboration with the multi professional team, in line with local and national protocols.
As the Band 7 working within the Haematology team, you will need to understand complex haematological conditions, possess excellent communication skills and have an understanding of both local and national guidance relevant to the speciality, including an awareness and exposure to research.
Main duties of the job- Work closely with the Transplant Team and Multidisciplinary Team at University Hospitals Plymouth (UHP) NHS Trust and the wider Peninsula Transplant team
- To co-ordinate procedures within the Apheresis Service; peripheral blood stem collection (PBSC), ensuring expertise and a high standard of care and efficient patient pathways
- Act as a professional role model and expert, leading and co-ordinating Apheresis education and practice development in Apheresis procedures.
- To be proficient in cannulation and venepuncture including with the use of ultrasound guided cannulation.
- Acting as a source of advice the post holder will provide a clinical role for Haematology patients within Cornwall under the guidance of the Clinical Matron for Cancer Services and in partnership with the Clinical lead.
