Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly-motivated Registered Nurse Associate to join our friendly and supportive team on Enhanced Peri-Operative (EPOC) at Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust.

We can offer you a diverse working environment whilst allowing you to develop your clinical skills, knowledge and expertise giving you the opportunity to gain advanced specialised skills to care for patients with complex surgical needs.

You will work as part of highly skilled, multi-disciplinary health care team providing post-operative care and delivering the highest standards of patient care within EPOC. The role is exciting and challenging, where compassion, teamwork, excellent communication skills, emotional resilience and initiative are paramount.

This role has been approved for advertising; however, it is also being assessed as a suitable alternative employment opportunity. As a result, the vacancy may be withdrawn or there may be a delay before shortlisting can begin.

Main duties of the job
Main duties of the job include but are not limited to:
  • Providing personal care, repositioning patients to maintain skin integrity and mobilising patients to support recovery for post-operative patients.
  • Communicate clearly, effectively and appropriately with the multidisciplinary team, patients and their family/visitors/carers.
  • Awareness of the importance of accurate documentation and contribute to reports of patients' activity and progress.
  • Participate in discussions about patient care and ward/departmental development, including handover and team meetings.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Maintain professional boundaries and working relationships with patients and colleagues.

The Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust (RCHT) is the main provider of acute and specialist care services in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. It serves a population of around 470,000 people, a figure that can increase significantly with visitors during the busiest times of the year.   • St Michael's Hospital in Hayle

The Knowledge Spa on the Royal Cornwall Hospital site is the base for medical and nursing as well as ongoing education for health professions in clinical and non-clinical roles. This plays a vital part in attracting and retaining highly skilled teams of doctors, nurses and other health professionals who support the care of well over half a million people each year.
