Job summary

Band 7 (30 hrs) West Cornwall Hospital Occupational Therapy Team Lead

We are looking for an experienced Acute Medicine/Eldercare Occupational Therapist to lead our West Cornwall Hospital Occupational Therapy Team, working alongside the Team Lead Physiotherapist and nursing colleagues. If you have skills in assessment and discharge planning for complex patients, this could be the role for you.

The Occupational Therapy service at West Cornwall Hospital comprises a Band 6 (currently on maternity leave, backfill being advertised) a Band 5 rotational post and a Band 4 OT Support Worker.

Operational supervision for the Band 7 Team Lead is provided by the Therapy Lead for Acute services, and the Professional Lead Occupational Therapists are available for professional advice and support.

This is a fixed term/ secondment post for 12 months.

Main duties of the job

Job overview band 7
To provide a high standard Occupational therapy service.To maintain an agreed case load within in the clinical specialism, performing advanced assessment of patients including those with highly complex presentations. To formulate diagnoses and treatment plans, as an autonomous practitioner.To undertake line manager duties for the team.To be instrumental in the on-going development of services and practices that provide high quality care and interventions.

Person Specification

Knowledge

Essential
  • Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • HCPC Registered
  • Evidence of further formal study e.g. Postgraduate qualifications, (Postgraduate certificate/Diploma, Masters modules, or equivalent management qualification
  • Member of relevant special interest group

Experience

Essential
  • Experience in line with requirements for the role
  • Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team, a good understanding of their roles and respect for the other professionals within the team.
