Job summary
We are looking for a Consultant Clinical Oncologist with a specialist interest in breast cancer to join our expanding and forward-thinking Oncology team at the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. A second tumour site interest in thyroid cancer is preferred, although alternative secondary tumour sites may be considered to support service needs.

More detail about the role
We are seeking a Consultant in Clinical Oncology with an interest in breast and thyroid cancer to join our friendly and supportive team at the Royal Devon at our Eastern services in Exeter.

Youll work alongside our innovative and patient-focused team of Consultants including 13 clinical oncologists, seven medical oncologists, two consultant radiographers and one nurse consultant, clinical oncology and medical oncology trainees and a team of resident doctors across different grades.

Working as part of an experienced MDT in Eastern services and closely with Northern services, youll make a difference to our patients across the region. This is reflected in our consistently high scores in the national cancer patient satisfaction survey.

At the Royal Devon, youll have access to state-of-the-art-equipment and technology. From Surface Guided Radiotherapy (SGRT) which is being funded through our very active and well supported Royal Devon Hospitals Charity, to the expansion of the Nightingale Exeter Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) and investment into a new modern Pathology Laboratory at Gadeon House.

This varied role is perfect for consultants who are passionate about education. The department plays a key role in medical and clinical oncology training as part of the Peninsula network and all consultants within the team participate in clinical and educational supervision of our trainees.

Research is strongly encouraged, and consultants are supported to contribute to and recruit into both NCRI and commercial study portfolios, helping to shape the future of cancer care.

Working pattern: This is a full-time position, however we welcome applications for part-time hours. The post would be part of the on-call rota covering the weekdays and weekend days with non-resident telephone advice out of hours on a 1 in 18 rota.
