Main duties of the jobTo provide service to the critical care services including the Trust Nutrition team at the Royal Free North Middlesex Health Unit site. If appropriately trained and competent to practice, to take on the extended role of non-medical prescribing. To develop and update policies and procedures. To take the lead role for the development and provision of education programmes for patients and staff within and out-with the Trust, and to develop critical care education resources.
To take the lead for producing, implementing, and updating critical care policies and procedures. To lead on and regularly participate in research and audit within critical care and the wider Dietetic Service. To participate and contribute to the Nutrition Team and provide cover for other specialist services areas as and when required. To participate in seven-day service on a Rota basis. Too undertake the planning, organisation, allocation, and training of student training for critical care.
Multidisciplinary team working, close liaison between acute and community teams, and highly developed skills in communicating with patients, carers, and other service users is essential. To be joint clinical team lead for critical care team. To be responsible for supervision of critical care and parenteral nutrition team.

Education & professional QualificationsEssential- BSc in Dietetics 4 year degree course or equivalent degree
- Registered Dietitian with HCPC
- BDA member
- Additional qualification or BDA accredited courses or equivalent in-house training
- Evidence or portfolio of postgraduate continued development
Desirable- BDA member of specialist group, critical care group network
- BDA post graduate diploma in advanced dietetic practice or equivalent in BDA postgraduate courses equivalent to Master's
- Non-medical prescribing qualification registered with HCPC
ExperienceEssential- Experience of audit
- Experience of training student dietitians
- Experience of working with different ethnic groups
- Significant experience of managing enteral tube feeding as part of complex dietetic care, including home enteral feeding discharges
- Experience working independently or as a sole practitioner, with the ability to recognise limitations and seek appropriate professional support
- Experience prioritising workload and managing competing demands within limited time and resources
- Experience delivering dietetic care to patients with complex needs in an acute hospital setting
- Experience contributing to service development or improvement initiatives as an individual practitioner or within small teams
- Understanding of the differences between NHS -funded and privately funded care, including patient expectations, access, and service boundaries

- Post graduate Courses on critical care, TPN, nutritional support
Skills and aptitudesEssential- Ability to provide highly specialised treatment packages, plan and provide appropriate monitoring
- Ability to analyse highly complex, conflicting information and deciding on the most appropriate treatment plan from a range of options
- Ability to supervise students, junior staff
- Ability to communicate highly complex, conflicting, sensitive information
- Ability to carry out nutritional assessments such as subjective global assessment, bioelectrical impedance analysis, and anthropometric measurements. Able to estimate dietary intake of macro/micronutrients
- Ability to treat others with compassion, dignity and respect, taking into account diversity considerations
- Ability to work effectively within different teams both multi and uni-disciplinary, with a willingness to be personally accountable for actions
- Proficient use of PC & working knowledge of Microsoft Office and nutritional analysis programs
- Understanding of personal accountability for governance, including confidentiality, health and safety, and risk management
