Job summary
This post is for a Consultant Cross-Sectional Radiologist based at North Middlesex University Hospital (NMUH), part of the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. The post will have a primary focus on CT and MRI, with opportunities to incorporate general radiology and ultrasound sessions depending on the candidate's interests and departmental needs.

The post currently includes four sessions in Neuroradiology reporting delivered at the Royal Free Hospital site, supporting group-wide service delivery and collaboration across the RFL Imaging Network.

The appointee will participate in the general radiology NMUH on-call rota,

The post holder will work with the existing departmental consultants and should be able to demonstrate excellent specialist imaging skills, in addition to strong general radiology abilities.

The clinical duties of the post will include supporting all aspects of the their subspeciality as well as contributing to the general workload of the department. The role will include working in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team to deliver the services in line with performance KPIs and clinical outcome metrics. The job requires the post holder to be able to work under pressure and to be flexible and adaptive to the needs of the patient and the service. Appropriate sub-speciality interest and training is essential.

All of our new post are cross-site posts.

The successful candidate will participate in a general on call rota at the Royal Free Hampstead site, Currently 1:18 frequency.

Person Specification
Education & professional Qualifications
Essential
  • FRCR or equivalent
  • Full GMC registration with licence to practise
  • Postgraduate degree
  • CCST/CCT or equivalent in radiology and on the specialist register, or within 6 months of CCT date at the time of interview, or evidence of working towards specialist registration via the Portfolio Pathway (formerly CESR)
  • Experience and higher training in neuroradiology (Fellowship or equivalent)

Experience
Essential
  • Knowledge and participation in clinical audit
  • Understanding of Clinical Governance
  • Experience on providing high quality training and education to undergraduates and postgraduates

Skills and aptitudes
Essential
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff, patients and relatives
  • Evidence of leadership and management experience
  • Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Experience of service development and quality improvement initiatives
  • Ability to work in a pressurised environment
