Description

Job summary
The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust is the largest specialist orthopaedic Trust in the UK with a world renowned reputation.

We are looking for a band 7 radiographer with good experience in cross sectional imaging to join our scanning department team at the RNOH Stanmore site. The role is for a 12 month fixed term contract and will also cover overseeing the department's research and audit commitments.

It is a great time to join the scanning department at the RNOH. We have recently upgraded our 3T MRI scanner to a Philips Elition X with ambient experience and we offer a unique hypnotherapy service for claustrophobic patients.

The post offers an excellent opportunity for a hardworking, experienced scanning radiographer who would like to develop their leadership and management skills as well as their clinical skills in cross-sectional orthopaedic imaging.

Main duties of the job
The role will be based in the Scanning Department of the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore. The department currently runs an extended day, 6 day a week service with plans to extend this to 7 days. We provide a full on call service outside working hours so weekend and out of hours working is an essential requirement of this post.

You will be expected to manage your workload effectively, applying knowledge and skill to produce high quality images and adapt techniques to meet complex patient requirements.

The post holder will support the flow of patients through the department through the prompt protocolling of requests, corresponding with clinical teams and radiologists where needed and responding to MRI safety queries and concerns.

The post holder will also be key in ensuring the delivery of a safe, patient focused service and be able to respond and diffuse any potential complaints or concerns. The post holder is expected to actively contribute to departmental audits and service improvements.

You will be required to support and deputise for the scanning superintendent radiographer. In return you will be able to gain experience in some managerial duties such as appraisals and recruitment. You will also have the opportunity to develop further managerial skills through the Trust's leadership and management training programmes.
