Job summary
We are looking for a Band 6 Physiotherapist to join us and become a specialist clinician in the London Spinal Cord Injury Centre Therapy department. Someone to be a part of the team, provide leadership and develop the service to continue to provide the best for our patients. The team provides rehabilitation and reintegration programmes for all age ranges and injury levels, from acute intervention through to reassessment of people with long standing needs. Clinical activity takes place in inpatient and outpatient settings at RNOH, as well as outreach and consultancy to other agencies. As a specialist centre, we have excellent links with other SCI centres around the country and share expertise with other specialist services here at Stanmore.

We are recruiting to two full-time (37.5 hours per week) posts: 1 permanent and 1 fixed-term contract for 12 months

Main duties of the job
We are looking for a physiotherapist who has:
  • 3 years post graduate experience with at least 6 months experience working in spinal cord injury or neuro-rehabilitation.
  • Excellent clinical reasoning skills
  • Good organisational skills

Job responsibilities
The post holder will provide a high standard physiotherapy service to patients during their first episode of rehabilitation, inpatient re-admissions and outpatients as part of a broad MDT. As a non-rotational physiotherapist they will contribute to the development and delivery of the service.

Qualifications
Essential
  • Diploma/degree in physiotherapist
  • Registered with Health Professions Council
  • Evidence of CPD maintained portfolio including attendance at recent post graduate courses relevant to this post

Desirable
  • Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy
  • Involvement in CSP clinical interest group or other relevant professional group

Experience
Essential
  • At least 3 years' experience as a Physiotherapist
  • Undertaken a broad range of rotations including musculo-skeletal, respiratory and critical care
  • At least 6 months experience in neurological physiotherapy
  • Experience treating patients with spinal cord injury
  • At least 1 years' experience as a band 6 physiotherapist
  • Well reasoned account of career intentions at RNOH
  • Experience of student or physiotherapy assistant supervision
  • Involvement in audit and understanding quality issues
  • Experience of teaching less experienced staff or students

Desirable
  • Experience in NHS
  • Involvement in research

Skills
Essential
  • Up to date knowledge of professional practice and new research
  • Able to present information, written and orally, in a clear, concise and logical manner
  • Demonstrates a desire to learn

Desirable
  • Competent IT skills
  • Presentation skills
