Job summary
Pembroke Suite is the SACT infusion day unit. We are looking for a SACT trained registered nurse who has experience of working with oncology/haematology patients and wants to develop their leadership skills. It is an exciting time to join Pembroke unit as we are growing our team, initiating an education package and looking to develop our staff.

Main duties of the job
You will demonstrate good organizational skills, ability to take charge and lead the team with support of the senior leadership team. You will be expected to assess and develop junior staff through mentoring, learning and appraisals. You will be mindful of standards at all times and if you have concerns you will know how to manage them or to raise them to the senior team.

Person Specification
Experience
Essential
  • SACT accredited course
  • Oncology/haeamatology experience
  • Leadership, experience of managing a team
  • SACT administration
  • IV administration
  • Management of central lines cannulation & venepuncture
  • Administration of blood products
  • Knowledge of cytotoxic policy
  • Evidence of being caring and compassionate with a good understanding of managing patients with complex needs.
  • Evidence of ongoing personal and professional development

Desirable
  • Intrathecal Chemotherapy skills
  • Post registration qualification in oncology/haematology nursing
  • Governance experience or understanding of governance
  • Palliative care experience
  • Leading a team in cancer care
  • Practice assessor/ supervisor
  • Advanced communication skills
