Job summaryPermanent | Part Time | **Internal Applications Only**We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated, dysphagia trained, Speech and Language Therapist to join our Neonatal Speech and Language Therapy Team.
This exciting opportunity involves working as part of our supportive multi-disciplinary neonatal team on a Level three Neonatal Unit. You will work alongside your AHP, nursing and medical colleagues to support babies and families with both feeding and communication.
About You:- Recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy and registration with HCPC and RCSLT.
- Post-graduate training and practical experience in specialist areas.
- Experience supporting children with autism, learning disabilities, and sensory differences across community and educational settings.
- Committed to collaborative working, inclusive practice, and continuous learning.
Main duties of the jobReporting into the Team Leader, your responsibilities will include:- Provide specialist assessment, diagnosis, and intervention for preterm and vulnerable infants
- Support and promote developmental care practices across the neonatal unit
- Deliver family-centred care for babies with complex medical and developmental needs
- Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team to optimise outcomes for infants and their families
- Contribute to service development, quality improvement, education, and training initiatives
- Support the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based neonatal care.

Person SpecificationQualifications and trainingEssential- Relevant professional qualification (1st degree level or equivalent)
- Registered member of Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists and Health Professions Council
- Evidence of specialised CPD up to Masters level
- Evidence of working at the Enhanced level of practice on the RCSLT EDS Competency Framework
Desirable- RCSLT neonatal competencies
ExperienceEssential- Experience of working with children and young people with dysphagia
- Experience of working with babies and neonates with dysphagia
- Involvement in development, delivery and evaluation of training packages
- Experience in providing advice on client management to other health professionals, carers and non-specialist health colleagues
Desirable- Experience of working on a neonatal unit
Knowledge and SkillsEssential- In depth knowledge of broad range of assessment tools and therapeutic interventions for neonates and babies with feeding and swallowing difficulties
- Up-to-date knowledge of national policies and legislation relevant to client group
- Knowledge of professional and clinical guidelines relevant to the client group
- Evidence of ability to manage and prioritise a specialist and complex caseload independently
- Excellent analytical, negotiation and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of the principles of clinical governance, audit and required standards of record keeping
- Ability to work effectively with other professions, agencies and family carers
