Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) to join our Vascular Service at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. We are looking for a motivated, highly skilled clinician who is passionate about delivering outstanding patient care and helping to shape the future of advanced clinical practice within vascular services.

Main duties of the job
As an Advanced Clinical Practitioner within the Vascular Service, you will work autonomously as a senior clinical decision-maker, providing expert assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with a wide range of vascular conditions. You will play a key role across all four pillars of advanced clinical practice: clinical practice, leadership and management, education, and research.

Working as an integral member of the multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to service development, quality improvement, workforce education, and the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care.

Education and Qualifications
Essential

• Relevant Masters' degree in Advanced Practice or NHSE Centre for Advancing Practice Advanced Practice Digital Badge
• Registered Nurse with Valid NMC registration or Health Care Professional and registered with HCPC with relevant clinical experience
• Advanced Physical Assessment module, Non-Medical Prescribing (if part of proposed role)
• Advanced life support qualification (ALS) or Intermediate life support qualification (ILS) dependant on role (delete as necessary)
• Evidence of relevant continuous professional development

Desirable

• Recognised Leadership Award/qualification or equivalent experience
• Recognised Teaching & Assessment Qualification or equivalent experience

Experience
Essential

• Must be able to evidence and demonstrate experience of ability to act as an independent, senior decision maker in a clinical team using published specialist curricula where available
• Evidence of portfolio of practice and sign off of competence of knowledge, skills and experience across all 4 pillars of advanced practice using CASP (or equivalent if external applicant)
• Experience of undertaking service improvement activity
• Evidence of contribution to audit and research activity
• Experience of training, supervising and assessing competence of junior colleagues (medical staff / ACP's / NMAHPs)
• Understanding and use of clinical governance in a practice setting and of dealing with complaints and managing / investigating clinical or other incidents

Desirable

• Significant relevant experience as qualified ACP within Vascular
• Evidence of adopting strategic priorities into practice
• Clinical / managerial leadership experience, including line management of staff, e.g. sickness/absence, recruitment/selection
• Experience of planning, developing and co-ordinating training material, courses and activity for others
• Experience in facilitating access to clinical supervision for ACPs or equivalent

Skills and Knowledge
Essential

• High standard of written and verbal communication - able to present and receive complex information and communicate effectively with all grades of staff and patients / families
• Effective leadership, negotiation, and reasoning skills with the ability to influence, coach and motivate others
• Can prioritise and manage own workload and support junior personnel in managing theirs when faced with conflicting pressures
• Ability to manage self and maintain professional conduct in difficult and challenging situations
• Knowledge and experience of bespoke advanced practice appraisal processes e.g. Practitioner E-Portfolio & CASP

Desirable

• Knowledge of strategic vision and understanding of national and Trust agendas for advanced level practice
