Job summary
Are you an experienced ENP or EP looking for a role that gives you freedom, variety, and the chance to make a real difference across our communities?

At Somerset NHS Foundation Trust, we're inviting passionate practitioners to join our Bank team, supporting our UTCs across the county. This is your opportunity to bring your expertise to the places that need it most — while keeping the control, balance and flexibility that bank working offers.

Why join our Bank team?

Make an impact where it matters
Every shift you choose helps keep our urgent and emergency services running smoothly. You'll be part of a team that steps in with skill, compassion and confidence when patients need rapid, high quality care.

Flexibility that fits your life
Pick and choose shifts that work around you. Whether you want to supplement your income, broaden your clinical experience, or work in a way that supports your home life, we empower you to build the schedule that suits you best.

Grow your skills across multiple sites
Working with us gives you the unique chance to experience different clinical environments, teams, and patient groups — strengthening your practice, keeping your skills sharp and your work varied. Weekly pay options
As part of our Bank team, you'll have access to Wagestream, our financial wellbeing benefit.

Track your pay in real time and access up to 50% of your earned wages before payday, helping you stay in control of your financial life with confidence.

Main duties of the job
The Community Urgent Care Service are looking to recruit Bank Emergency Nurse Practitioners/Emergency Practitioners across our Urgent Treatment Centres in the beautiful county of Somerset, in particular Minehead, Bridgwater, Burnham on Sea and Chard. You'll be a qualified ENP/EP with non-medical prescribing working with a team of ENPs who deliver high-quality care within our busy Urgent Treatment Centres. Working with us you will be part of our dynamic team with a broad scope of advanced practice including injury and illness. We embrace the variety and challenge of this role and it means we learn something new every day. We welcome applicants with a specialist interest in Emergency Care.

About us
As an organisation, the NHS offers a wide range of benefits including flexible working, pension contributions, and not to mention our Blue Light Card and NHS exclusive discounts.

We work hard to make sure that inclusion is part of everything we do. We know that true inclusion means we're able to provide the best care for our patients and provide a fulfilling career for all our colleagues.

We have six active and impactful colleague networks. These networks provide a safe space for colleagues to share their experiences and learn from one another, but also influence change across our trust:
  • Multicultural Network
  • Women's Network
  • Armed Forces' Network
  • LGBTQ+ Network
  • Lived Experience Network, for colleagues living with disabilities
  • Autistic Colleague Network

We offer a form of weekly pay via Wagestream. Bank Pay is an easy way to automatically get paid a percentage of the money you've already earned from any bank shifts completed the previous week. It means you don't have to wait until the end of the month for your bank shift pay, giving you more flexibility.

Don't worry - the remaining portion of your pay is set aside to make sure your tax contributions are paid in full and if your tax contributions amount to less than the money set aside you'll receive it all back at the end of each month.

Job responsibilities
The Emergency Nurse Practitioner (ENP) or Emergency Practitioner (EP) will support the Service Manager, Nurse Consultant and Clinical and Managerial Lead, a team of both registered and unregistered staff to undertake the care and management of patients within the Minor Injury Units on a shift by shift basis. The ENP/EP will offer support, guidance and professional support to the nursing team in the MIU & A&E. The post holder will be involved in auditing the standards of care being provided by all clinical staff.
